Title: Lexical choices affecting register of a text ??

"How do lexical choices contribute to the register of a text ?? "
 
This was one of the questions on a practice test that I just did and i was wondering how you would answer this for 2 marks. Thanks :D

Hello :)
What sort of text was it?
For example (if your text was an informal one) lexical choices such as colloquialisms, personal pronouns, etc. would create an informal register because they would create a more relaxed tone, therefore adding informality. But if it was a formal text you could talk about things like jargon, etc.
