Title: Can you use a pencil in the Physics Exam?
Post by: The_Nster on October 29, 2015, 11:03:28 am
The exams say "use a black or blue pen" but what would happen if you used pencil?

Are you allowed to use a pencil? What if you make a mistake when graphing something?

I don't think it's that important which you use but a pen probably helps with the clarity of your writing/working. Definitely graph in pencil then trace over it so that it's clear for the examiner to interpret.

Pen must be used as the exams are scanned by a computer before being marked. The scanner cannot pick up pencil markings, and you could end up with a zero for your exam.

Well this is one tasty load of misinformation.

The optical scanner picks up on colour-wavelength frequencies so it will literally scan the page as it appears and last I checked pencil markings aren't invisible to the human eye.

Really? Maybe I shouldn't be so trusting of my teachers....

Pretty sure they arent being scanned this year. so its fine. Like those black spaces on the exam that tells you NOT TO WRITE HERE, they arent on it this year because its not being scanned!
