I was considering psych for my degree, and the website said at least a distinction (70%) was required to be considered into Honour years. But realistically, what kind of average do you want throughout your undergraduate years to be competitive/guaranteed for Honours?
thanks alot guys!

I imagine it varies significantly from field to field. For things like psychology where honours is a very popular thing to do, I would imagine you would want near a HD average to feel comfortable. I think the 70% average rule generally holds true for a lot of different areas though, at least according to one of my tutors this year.

Varies between fields and on what supervisor you have as your preference and how popular they are. I don't know how it works in other schools but in Chemistry, you list three supervisors in order of preference and the person with the highest marks gets the first pick. If two people applied for Professor X, the higher mark person gets Professor X.
It might not be too hard to get into Honours (70% average) but getting your supervisor of choice may be a different matter. I've heard in Zoology that you need an 80-85% to get the supervisor of your choice (maybe because there aren't too many supervisors?)
