Find the value of B to two decimal places if the line segment between A( 2,b ) and B ( 6,-8 ) has a length of 12 units.

Have you tried drawing a triangle and finding the length of its hypotenuse? If you're having trouble drawing a triangle because you don't know what b is, don't draw it to scale - just pretend that b is 3 or something and draw the triangle, just to give you some ideas.
Often with these types of question, doing a rough sketch so that you have an idea of what's going on is the first thing you should try!

Use the distance formula, and solve for b!
