Which university did you put as your first preference on your VTAC application and what were the factors that influenced your decision? (apart from that uni having ur desired course)
-
UoM
-
Monash
-
UoM!!!!

Monash
factors: reputation, convenience, mates are goin there

Monash - Location,location,location !!!
Also the following:
-group of 8
-better reputation

Monash: Double Degrees, 10 minutes away =], existence of IT Faculty
-
UoM

Monash - Location,location,location !!!
Also the following:
-group of 8
-better reputation
-more friendlier people
What do you mean by friendlier people? how can you make that assumption?

lolwut. Are the UoM brochures very unfriendly? :S
-
LMAOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY @ NE2000,. I think ALL brochures contain smiling people, which are just CALLING for a hug :P. hahaha.
But i agree, I think Monash Uni, or ANY uni has friendly people. Especially meeting some of the foreign exchange students, it's great to hear their experiences here, and overseas, etc etc. And because in Uni people tend to be much more mature than highschool, you do have a bigger ratio of friendlier people i guess. But yeah.

Monash Uni
In my opinion has better engineering and science than UoM
Downside it is a 40+ min drive but I believe it's the best option for me
-
I'm leaning towards monash, the best reason I have so far is how strongly all of my sisters friends at her residential hall (one at UoM) recommended monash over UoM for engineering.
-
UoM because of what I can major in and because it's closer and has more convenient public transport than Monash.
-
awww... poor VU gets no votes haha
-
awww... poor VU gets no votes haha
Is there such thing as a VU first preference?
...I'msorry.
-
awww... poor VU gets no votes haha
LOL. Im surprised it hasn't surpassed Monash or Melbourne in popularity.

Don't be sorry, the truth is good ;)

I was being sarcastic LOL. Sorry, now that I read over it, it does sound as though I was being genuine.

NEVER consider distance as a constraint in Uni, unless its more than 1 hour or1:20 minutes drive, but even THAT can be OKAY in some cases. 40 minutes is NOTHING LOL. It takes around half that time to get to school now. Besides, you only go 3-4 times a week, and you would sometimes stay there for a while @ library or go shops or something, so its okay.. And also=trains (less time) if possible
-
Far out, the other unis are getting demolished! i thought the spread would be more balanced than this :P
Melbourne and Monash are neck and neck, who will win???
-
I'm surprised not more people are going Deakin, La Trobe and RMIT.
They are respected Uni's, with some offering courses which don';t even exist at either Melb or Monash.

The better university will win.............so its Monash lol
-
Yeah, definately Monash. It says it for itself..."Be Bold"
-

Not unless if it's a Connex train. :P In which case, you'd be lucky if you got a train.
Luckily they're gone by December.

i was being sarcastic, imo the VU next to flinders needs to be shut down and removed to facilitate greater car park accessibility in the CBD
-
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
Is that how WORTHLESS VU is? LMAO. it being turned into a carpark! LMAO, I'm sure the greenies would love that. xDm
good one

hmmm...the sarcasm's getting a bit overdone also particularly considering no-one seems to understand it half the time.
-
I'm baffled lol
ummm... what happened to all the posts?
-
Melbourne Uni is gaining ground on Monash, whilst all the other unis are left in the dust :P
-
lol. I guess it all comes down to what you make of where you end up. There have been many instances where students had the option of going to Melbourne/Monash but choose to go RMIT (yet to hear any1 willing to go to VU LOL). It's because it suite them individually.
But ur right, Melbourne Uni sorta fell or remained stagnant for 2 years during Melbourne Model, but I think this year they recorded higher numbers. Dunno.
-
Monash. Only because of that Bachelor of Accounting scholarship program.
I'm highly considering swapping UoM BCom to #1, though...
-
Melbourne arts first, Monash arts second.
-
Melbourne I'm pretty sure beat Monash.
But really these results are what I expected.
Melbourne and monash are the two best uni's in terms of reputation, right now whilst everyone in year 12 at the moment hasn't recieved their ENTER why not put down the best uni's first. Most people love the unis because of their facilities and the name: "I got a degree at melbourne uni" or "I got a degree at monash" compared to "I got a degree at VU". Really big firms for engineering will look at monash, melbourne and RMIT.
One thing I don't like about RMIT is that it looks like a huge box.
Monash and Melbourne took up about 7 of my 12 slots.
-
um,js a quick question. considering the fact that many people are tending to go to Melb, would the enter prereq go up this year?
-
done mine this arvo, top 5 were:
1. Management/Marketing - Monash
2. Arts/Management - Monash
3. Arts/Marketing - Monash
4. Commerce - Deakin
5. Sport Management - Deakin
-
um,js a quick question. considering the fact that many people are tending to go to Melb, would the enter prereq go up this year?
Depends on the academic achievement of the people who applied for the courses. It's hard to tell until the results come out.
Also, you have to remember though, VN represents only a small proportion of year 12 students so while a lot of people in VN might go to UoM or Monash, the state may not agree.

Yeah, there's hardly anyone in my school who put down Melbourne University as one their top preferences
-
Melbourne is attracting me~ nooooo. Why must Monash buildings look so ugly >_<

lol yeah thats unsurprisingly the one uni were we r "underepresented"

Makes sense if your school is:
Under-represented schools are defined as Victorian schools that have an average of 20 or more Year 12 VTAC applicants per year over the past three years and:
- Have 62% or less of applicants enrolled in a tertiary institution AND 14% or less of these enrolled at the University of Melbourne.
OR
- Have between 61% and 78% of applicants enrolled in a tertiary institution AND 8% or less of these enrolled at the University of Melbourne.

Monash Clayton because it is pretty close (20-30min drive I think?) and is supposedly good for the course I want.
