How many gametes do the mother and father produce each? I was told by a friend mother produces 2 gametes (i thought it was 1?) and father produces 1 gamete, can anyone confirm

From one cell, 4 gametes are produced via meiosis. Each of these gametes are haploid and genetically different.

This may be a stretch but is it possible you're getting mixed up sex chromosomes? An offspring can only inherit X chromosomes from its mother (XX) while it inherit both X and Y chromosomes from the father (XY)
