Title: The Difficulty of Engineering

Hi, I'm doing year 12 this year and i was thinking if disaster strikes and I do not get into monash or melbourne commerce I would do engineering at Melbourne and try and transfer after first semester or year.

I have never done sciences. I am pretty good at methods (expecting 38+ raw) and probably just as good at English after scaling.  Do you think for someone like me it would be much harder to achieve a 70%+ average in engineering than arts? Note: I hate writing essays and wrote learning and i enjoy methods  :idiot2:

In my experience it's easy to get 70+ in science subjects - not so true for engineering subjects, but similar.

Arts subjects... are a bit difficult to predict your score.

Thanks coblin. If i have never done chemistry before, is it possible to major in chemical engineering without being owned?

Hey sam5,

If you've never done chem before, then you would take a subject called Fundamentals of Chemistry in semester 1. https://app.portal.unimelb.edu.au/CSCApplication/view/2009/610-171

This would give you the basics of chemistry to proceed into the mainstream chemistry subject Chem 1 in semester 2. This though, may mean you have to do Chemistry 2 in the summer time.

If you do this, would probably would not get owned. You would probably be fine :)
