Like the question states above, is it a good idea to do 2 3/4 subjects in year 11 or would that just be stupid?
Thanks

its a brilliant idea if you're willing to work hard :)
its practically 2 years of yr 12 but its completely worth it!

I agree with Swagadaktal,
It can be a great tactic, provided you are willing to work hard.
If you then do five 3/4's in year 12, it gives you the option of dropping your weakest subject out of your ATAR calculation which could be a great failsafe.
One thing I recommend doing is speaking with the teachers at your school who run the 3/4 units you are considering for next year, just so you can get an idea of what the content and workload will be like.
But I think ultimately it is a great idea because it will alleviate the pressure for your weakest subject, and less pressure in year 12 is something everyone needs!

I did 1 in y10 and a couple in y11 so I ended with 2 extra subjects. All together it is a good idea if you are going for 99+ but a bad idea if you are not particularly motivated and plan on using one of those as a dud subject. In y11 you get full time to concentrate on those subjects so look at them as your top 4 members :)

cool thanks for the replies. Any idea if there would be any way to study for 3/4 biology next year considering there's a new study design?

I've heard it's not too different, however, check out the new study design online and then go through the relevant notes on ATAR Notes. Or you can go through other notes that you can find, perhaps from textbooks or the internet, and only learn what is in the new study design. :)
