HI,im currently doing advance placement in yr11
and i wanted to enroll in my ap's uni subject
but ...yea was wondering which one was better?
coz i read the pages on both of their websites,
and while the melbourne seems to hav a more detailed structure,
but it sounds as if it is a lot harder to get the '5.5' score >.<

Don't do university enhancement if you're only doing it for the 5.5 increment.
I chose UMEP because our school offers it. Do whichever one is closest to you.
Also, what subject are you doing? Maths?

it depends what you want to do, not one of them is better than the other ._.
i'm most likely doing chemistry at monash because they don't offer it at melbourne:)

well for me, doing jap this year, and i heard that melbourne is trying to vcal to approve of their
japanese umep by next yr
otherwise it would be monash fullstop (no-choice) lols
and for me distance isnt really a distance
i just wanna which ever is most worthwhile
coz i wanna continue jap in uni, so its best if i dont leave a yrs gap and if i gonna do a uni course i might as well aim for 5.5 lol

MUEP is 3 hours per week on one day and UMEP is 4 hours per week but spread over two days. So that depends on how much time you're willing to spend travelling to and from.
Also MUEP is $900 all up and I don't know about the fees that UMEP charges, but I'm relatively certain it'll be free (the career's lady at my school rang up and asked for Psychology and they said there's no fee and since Jap isn't being held at school centres, it should be the same. but then when I went on open day which was before the phone call, the co-ordinator said they might charge a similar fee as MUEP). However, they haven't updated their bloody page and fees would be the only thing that's stopping me. Ahh, frustration.
But, anyway. Personally I would say go for UMEP because I'm biased. The 5.5 shouldn't be too hard if you've got such a keen interest in the subject.

UMEP for me was 2 hours a week on Wednesday afternoon. It depends on your school.

My friend is currently doing extension Jap at Monash, and he seems to like it. The grammar doesn't look too bad (from looking at the textbook and hearing what he's said about it) but the vocab is pretty hard, with pretty long lists of vocab with accompanying Kanji to memorise for fortnightly (?) tests. Apparently there are some sections of the textbook that are really hard, but the mid year exam was really easy, with everyone finishing the "2 hour exam" in half an hour or something.

well for me, i would prefer monash, coz its more convenient and id rather go to that uni than melbourne u
but nah,, just that on the summeries for these course on their websites
monash just says that theres one seminar per week and thats it
where as melbourne says it has seminars AND tuts
and the tuts is pretty much the only attracting me to melbourne lol ..it makes u feel better incase u get confused ! coz theres a small group teacher to help u

Monash 'seminars' are just tutes, small classes with a teacher who can help with stuff if you need it. :)
