One with ink ;)
But seriously, whatever you've been writing with all year will be fine :)

I don't know any specific brands, but I'd suggest not getting a pen that has an abrasive grip at the top, and instead getting one of the soft rubber ones. I used one with an abrasive grip during trials (you know the ones with the zig-zaggy kinda thing) and using if for so long it started to cut into my finger, to the point where my finger was bleeding at the end of my Ancient Exam!

Lol, that's the thing. The pen I used for trials was a free Tafe pen and now that's out of link. So I'm trying to find a few brands to try out.

I have no idea what this abrasive tip is but I'll keep that in mind. Thanks

Heres an example of what I mean :) You see at the end of the pen it's jagged not smooth?

Papermate Kilometricos are nice and lightweight, so if you need to write quickly, use that. If you need to write neatly though, and dont normally write neatly, I suggest another pen.
But seriously, any pen that isnt made of gold should be fine in the exam room :D
I used a BIC Crystal M for my trials, was light and it didn't make me too messy..

I personally use bic altantis, but I do a lot of maths so I can't say how well they would work for a more wordy, essay based exam x You can get them in 4 packs from woolies so they're convenient at the very least

Lol you'll need all 4 pens for the exam probably. Lash out and get a 10 pack in case one doesn't work xD
But, importantly: check your pens work (especially your new pens) before going into the exam room. This will save you time doing 'dead flies on the page' in the exam.

Personally Pilot G-2 07 pens are my favourite as they are smooth to write with, and if you have a preference for gel pens its great. But if you tend to rub your hand against the paper it will smudge, but otherwise dries relatively quickly.

Pilot G2
In 0.7 or 0.5.

I like paper mate ink joy or bic crystal m, but it's personal preference really. just make sure you test the pens! I find i get better quality when i buy pens individually from the news agent or in a small pack then if i get the big 10-20 pen packs. not sure why, just seems to go that way for me.
also, i thought blue or black ink was okay but recently noticed some papers only specified black, so that may be worth looking in to.

Yeah apparently black in is better scanned and thus is more easily read by markers. I just purchased some black ink joy pens. They feel pretty good.

I second that! I only just picked it up a couple days ago..found that I wrote faster and pretty legibly with it!

Warning: Do NOT use these pens if you are a left hander.. Learn from my mistakes :(

Seriously guys if you don't mind a tri-grip then Ink joy Papermate is the way to go!!
-
Or head to officeworks! they have a pad where you can test out all their pens and choose whatever works best for you!

This is a great idea! Then you can test for yourself what pen works for you! +1

I just used whatever pen I had available on the day.
But if we're to be fussy over what pen to use I only look for these two things.
1. Smoothness
2. Grip
1. is more important in English. 2. is more important for everything else.
That's what I reckon

Those are a fine pen 8) I'm picturing like a desk with candles and a photo of this pen on it, ahaha ;)

Does anyone know any pen brands that have pens that have a triangular shape? I have a SERIOUS problem with my writing and those pens fit nicely on my specific grip and I can't find any anywhere >_<

I personally enjoy BIC pens but generally anything is fine.

Yes! Papermate Inkoy! They are my holy grail exam pens!

In love with Bic's Round Stic Comfort Grip after using my friend's in year 9. Sadly, they're only sold at Officeworks and have been sold out around my area. Although they sell their 'comfort grip', it's really the smoothness that makes me use these pens! I write pretty hard and for every exam I have 3 band aids on (thumb, middle and pinky finger) and sometimes the band aids do make the grip a little sticky.

The band aid thing is a really good idea! My favourite pen was tri-grip, much to my dismay. Which could break me out in blisters sometimes and not bloody once did I consider putting on band aids before hand to stop that! It'll also release the pressure a bit if you're holding onto your pen too hard. Good thinking!

uniball signo works well and flows over the page (Y)

Oh my goodness.
I've been hearing everyone talk about Ink Joy pens and I decided to buy some last week. Finally started trying one.
Wow. That's smoothness to a new level.
-
i prefer 'muji' pens of any sort, esp. their fineliner/small tip pens! they feel so nice to write with and look so aesthetic ahha, but for exams i'd probs not use them as they dont seem to be strong enough for my strong grip; i think i used a variation of ink Joys and Kilometrico pens for my exams ha!
-
I have another suggestion.
Buy a uniball Jetstream (slightly more expensive in stationary shops) but you can purchase the refills on Ebay (fast shipping) and they are glorious!

YUS. Yes definitely stick with what you have been using ur whole life since you have little time to experiment with something new. But if you are a maverick like me... I'd recommend a muji fountain pen. THe writing experience is just incredible. I've been using muji pens a while now. They're extremely smooth and accurate unlike most ballpoint pens i find. I have the inkjoy pens from woolworths lol. they're pretty good but for some reason the ink dries out inside and it didn't last very long for me. :o
-
If you're a fast writer, I would reccomend the Muji ballpoint pens in 0.5. They dry quickly and are very smooth to write with. Going into exam season I always buy a new one (they're $1.50) and use it with one back up on my table just in case. I have never had one run out in me during an exam! Best pen ever!!
