Title: Pen or pencil in maths exams?
Post by: NerdyPi on October 31, 2016, 06:43:32 am
Hey guys, so I'm not really sure what I should write in for maths  exams. I know VCAA say pen for chem and physics, but there's no specifications (that I can find) for the maths exams. Does anyone know if pencil is allowed for the SA questions and the exam 1 papers?

Pen for writing, you may use pencil for shading feasible regions if doing Graphs and Relations

I've been told using a dark pencil should be fine. Most people I know are using pencil as well, so yeah.

U can use pencil for maths, a lot of people do it and got 45+ so obvs they didn't loose marks. Just make sure it's dark, and u don't smudge it much, should be good.
Also, even tho physics and Chem are no to pen, half of last year's cohort use pencil and it was fine- they just really really prefer pen bc it's clearer and less likely to smudge !!

I went along with pencil for both methods exams last year, and I didn't get told off for it. It should be okay as long as it can be read clearly.
