Hi i'm looking into future possible subjects to do in Yr 11 and I want to do one U3/4 subject. The subjects im currently shooting for are:
-Psychology
-Maths Methods
-Chemistry
-Biology
-English(EAL)
Basically, I need your opinion's on the subjects work and effort wise and also doesn't neccessarily need U1/2 to get a good score.
Thanks in advance,

You'd definitely need to do the 1/2s for chem and methods if you were planning to do them in year 11, I'm not sure about EAL though. But since it has to be in your top 4 it might be better to delay until year 12. If your doing 1/2 in year 10 then methods would probably be the best to do but if you want to do a 3/4 without 1/2 then do biology or psychology. I don't know much about psychology but I've heard it's similar to bio as it is content heavy, which is a good thing since you have time to do content heavy subjects in year 11 compared to year 12.

Choose whichever one you enjoy the most.
You won't be able to do methods or chem without 3/4, and I wouldn't do English either because, while doable, usually your writing will improve over time, hence it's best to complete it in Year 12. Biology and psych are your only real options and both, I think, would have an equal workload. My advice? Choose whichever you think you'll enjoy the most and feel motivated to study for. :)

I agree with Coffee, I think biology and psychology are your best options. Bio 3/4 can be completed without 1/2 with relative ease, and it's content heavy so I wouldn't have liked to do it in year 12. I haven't done psychology but I imagine it's fairly similar. Doing either bio or psych in year 11 will free up some time in year 12, and as it'll be your only 3/4 subject (presumably), you can dedicate more time to it (but don't neglect your other subjects - bad idea).
Good luck :)

Yep, Psych 1/2 is a nice bonus for 3/4, but certainly not necessary.
I'll add to the chorus of "do Bio and/or Psych" posters, but also ask this question: do you have any idea what you want to do post-VCE? :)

Thanks for the replies. I haven't put much thought into what specific course I want to get into but since I like science I'm looking into medicine or science engineering. I'm only taking psychology as a fallback in case i dont get in the course I want. But with your opinions, I think of I'll do psychology 3/4 in yr 11 over biology.

I would say either biology or psychology, because the 1/2 isn't that relevant for 3/4. On the other hand, doing chem and methdos with the 1/2 would be very difficult, as the 1/2 carries alot into 3/4. Goodluck with the 3/4 that you choose :)
