Title: Legal Studies Prelim
Post by: felicity_bry on March 13, 2017, 11:59:06 am
Hey, so I've got my first prelim legal studies assignment and the instructions are to write a report about 1 civil and 1 criminal case and evaluate the effectiveness of the law in the case. I was just wondering if anyone knew any good cases that have occurred in the past 5 years in NSW. Thanks! :)

Hey Felicity! Welcome to the forums!!

I don't know any civil ones unfortunately (I forget all my Year 11 stuff aha) but a good criminal one to consider might be R v Loveridge (2014). It has a lot of really interesting aspects, especially with regards to balancing community interests with individual and victim rights. This is the "Thomas Kelly King Hit" case that spurred the NSW lockout laws.

Could be worth a look! Hopefully someone else can recommend a good civil case ☺
