I can't say I've followed it extremely closely, but gosh, it's sounded pretty fkn hectic.

As Cyclone Debbie crossed the north Queensland coast, it created wind gusts of up to 263kph.
Truly amazing. Has anybody had personal experience of extreme weather like this?
EDIT: Some pretty telling photos here. Wow.

Sounds and looks pretty bad! My friend's brother lives up near where Cyclone Debbie is, it was heading right for him but then turned the other way, thank goodness. Does anyone know if anyone has been killed or injured? :-\

"How do some people's names become forever linked to terrifying winds and massive destruction?
It's simple - the Bureau of Meteorology simply picks a name from a list.
"We have a list of 104 names, and we just take the next one that comes up," says Al Morgan from the Kalgoorlie-Boulder BOM office."
More here: http://www.abc.net.au/local/stories/2011/02/01/3127096.htm It's quite interesting, actually.

Do you reckon it's ethical to give cyclones names which can be people's names too?
