Title: Guilty pleasures
Post by: Calebark on May 25, 2017, 01:51:37 pm
Oh wow, how is there not a thread for this yet?

What are some of your guilty pleasures, big or small?

For someone who's big into metal, and involved in the Melbourne metal scene, mine is that I love listening to Roy Orbison. In Dreams, anyone?

I have a few guilty pleasures-

- Spy/Mystery/Crime books- I can't get enough of them (I'm nearly finished one- A Spy in the House by YS Lee- this book is fairly loaded haha)
- listening to basically any music from the 70s/80s/90s. ❤
- having some good ol' spring veg soup (from Continental) and bread. Best thing to eat whilst having a study break.
-Lindt choc- I don't have this often, but when I visit the Café (and have their hot choc- recommended ;) ), I buy a ton of flavoured blocks and I'll eat some when I want to have a cheeky square haha.

Consuming unusually large quantities of junk food in one sitting.  Louise, you talking about "a cheeky square" puts me to shame; for me it's more a like "a cheeky couple of full blocks".

Perhaps more of the guilty than the pleasure. :P

Same here! I get so much judgement from my family for this.
Recently, I've been binge-watching Botched :P So bad, yet so good. There's just something about these shows that make you unable to switch them off

Exactly, they suck you in & you want to see the outcome

I used to watch even trashier reality shows that were on late at night, there was one called Operation Repo or something a little while ago that I was into hahaha

I haven't actually seen Botched but there was one called Embarrassing Bodies that I liked
Also Extreme Makeover

Precisely - you start to feed off the drama.
Embarrassing Bodies is great!!!

More guilty pleasures - chocolate is a massive one for me. Particularly now as I live independently and do my own grocery (aka chocolate) shopping :-X

guilty pleasures, I have some that I honestly thought I would never have nor indulge myself in pre HSC. Junk Food- honestly have over indulged when studying/preparing for exams. To try and ease the burden of eating copious amounts of junk food, I tell myself that it is only because of exams. I tell myself it is my reward for 'studying so hard'. LOLOLOLOLOL

The other has probably been netflix, I have watched and finished more TV Series in six months than my entire 18 years on Earth.

Thanks HSC for exposing my true guilty self :/

I like searching up people with the same first+last name as me on Facebook.

The most interesting one so far is a geologist from Adelaide. He recently climbed Everest.

There can only be one -- I'm doing this to analyse their weaknesses, so I can absorb their power. There can only be one....

Only one.

Listening to sad/moving music.

Theoretically, I should listen to uplifting happy music, but it just makes me feel like shit. Sad music helps move me emotionally from shame to sadness, which is a much more bearable and... almost enjoyable emotion? Does anyone else find that?

I love listening to sad music as well. Though I'm not so sure about the shame to sadness bit though haha. For some reason, listening to sad songs make me feel happier. I know, I'm weird. :)

Guilty pleasure #47382: walking into a shop and not buying anything and walking out again

I do this really often when out alone, especially when I'm unreal/dissociating/spaced out.

I basically wander unintentionally into a supermarket or shop and meander up and down the aisles and pick things up and put them down and look unfocusedly at specials and hug the freezer doors and finally wander out and on my way.  :P  The more tired and dissociated I am, the more I do this; I can't collect myself together enough to walk anywhere with direction or purpose. :')

I do this, but now that I also work in retail I'm always paranoid that the shop staff think I'm a shoplifter or something
