Title: Favourite Music Genre
Post by: Claudiaa on August 01, 2017, 07:15:59 pm
This is a poll just out of curiosity, procrastination and to determine whether the study that suggests that people who listen to a wider range of different genre music are more intelligent !!!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I literally don't know what genre this is. If anybody could help me identify it, I'll vote accordingly hahaha.

EDIT: According to YouTube, "alternative country". 8)

I'd say alt. folk, but I honestly have no clue apart from that. I love the Avett Bros <3

alternative country
Nooooooooooooooo

I wouldn't say I restrict myself to a certain genre. I like a bit of pop, some indie, some alternative, some rock. :) Recently been rediscovering my love for French music too.

That song's easy to play on the uke, too. Let's jam at the next AN meet-up. ;)

Just letting you guys know, I think I'm gonna be sick whenever the next meet-up is and will be unlikely to make it. :)

I'm most certainly not about the country vibes, Joseph41.

I think it's the harmonica that does it. And also, you know the typical country song voice? Yeah.

Obviously, there's always exceptions, but mostly, I'd rather run my fingernails down a chalkboard :)

Unfortunately, I don't particularly like country, unless you consider Angus and Julia Stone's Down The Way country, but that's about it. Love a bit of everything, except pop and country.

My favourite genre is whatever Frontier Psychiatrist by The Avalanches fits into.

So, to clarify (haven't quite been able to glean from this thread): do you enjoy country music, Claudiaa and K888? ???

no no no no no !! the closest thing to country music I will ever expose myself to is my dad's italian almost country music type songs. Besides that, I enjoy a combination of rap (italian, japanese rap), kpop (including korean rap), spanish music, hardstyle, EDM, trance and i even went through a band/metal stage. I don't mind pop... i will listen to it on the radio but it won't be in my itunes list! way too overrated and overplayed !!

What about you Joseph?

Metal and rock, definitely! If I had to pick a metal subgenre though, I'd have no idea. Torn between prog, folk, and power.

ALSO GERMANY ISN'T KNOWN FOR THEIR DEATH METAL! THAT'S SCANDINAVIA! SWEDEN MOST OF ALL FOR NORMAL DEATH, FINLAND FOR MELODEATH AAARRGGHHH

The two worst things to come out of the country: the music and K888.

I'm most into classical (romantic not baroque  >:( >:( >:() music, just because it's what I was brought up on so it's Real Music to me haha.

Apart from that, I'm really bad at defining genres outside classical - so I like a variety of styles but can't label them haha. Probably metal and country?

I love classical/Romantic pieces!! I play clarinet and the romantic pieces are probably my favourite to play.
I'm playing two romantic pieces for my HSC and two others.
If you are interested. They are:
Brahms - Clarinet Sonata No. 2 in Eb Major Op. 120
It is such a beautiful piece-even just the first line is amazing! :) This is a link to the whole sonata but I'm only playing the first piece.

Robert Schumann: Fantasy Pieces (2) This one is also really nice. :D

I'm involved in a lot of band music but then I also mainly listen to pop stuff at home (at the moment i'm into Ed Sheehan, Shawn Mendes and The Vamps).

I really love classical music, particularly the music of Tchaikovsky, Saint-Saens, Greig and Wagner. Holst's 'The Planets' is one of my all-time favourites as well, but I have a soft spot in my heart for John Williams music as well. :-)
