Title: Forbidden's VCE Journal
Post by: forbiddensoulxx on September 11, 2017, 06:23:59 pm
Hey guys, I'm Forbidden. I'm in year 11 this year and doing Psych 3/4, Methods 1/2, Eng Lang 1/2, Accounting 1/2, Legal 1/2 and Economics 1/2. Just wanted to start my own journal so I can reflect on it next year and use it to keep me motivated.

11/09

-I got my psych SAC back today. Did better than average, just a bit disappointed since I still could have done better and made a very silly mistake. But upside is there is only one more SAC to go for psych ever,

-Today was action packed with catching up on tests since I was away last week. In the morning, I had an Eng Lang commentary, which I screwed up. I had an accounting test in the afternoon, which I felt I did decent in. And during the end of the day, I had a methods test on anti-differentiation, which was quite hard for some parts.

- No legal or economics today, but I've got an economics oral tomorrow on income equality, which should be interesting.

Excited to see you getting more active, Forbidden! :D

How have you found Psych this year? Have you enjoyed it/disliked it? If you had your time again, would you pick it to be your accelerated 3/4? :)

Really keen to read your future instalments!

Hey there! I've found psych really interesting this year. Even though it is quite content heavy, it's quite applicable to real life which makes it much more easier to remember content. But generally I've found, while it is content heavy, the content isn't confusing or such, so I've found it simple to wrap my head around most things. I also have the added bonus of an amazing psych teacher who is really passionate about the subject and a really nice guy overall. And if I had the choice, I would pick psych as my year 11 subject every time due it being arguably the most content heavy subject of my lot, and I would like to get that done before I get into year 12. :D And thanks a lot, I appreciate you enthusiasm, haha.

Great call on Psych. It's a brilliant subject.

Is the plan to continue with all of your current 1/2 subjects next year?

I'm hoping to apply for UMEP Economics, however my methods grades aren't on par, so I'd have to see if I would be able to apply for it. If I do manage to get accepted into it, I'll drop accounting for it. However, if I don't, the plan is to continue with all my current subjects. :)

12/09

So, today was a semi chillish day.
- In the morning, I had economics in which I did my oral on poverty and income equality, and the rest of the class was pretty chill and easy going.
- Legal was pretty nice because we're doing a topic that's not in he textbook so it's nice to get a balance of textbook material and kind of 'real life' material.
- In methods, we had a CAS test which I think I did decently in, apart from screwing up the last question. :'(
- English language was refreshing since we're in a new area of study and just looked at the basic concepts and definitions.
- Finally comes accounting, in which we got our test which I did yesterday back. :( I did decent in it as well, considering I didn't even know I would do the test yesterday haha.

I was planning on doing a bit of psych after I got home, but Metro screwed me over by delaying my train which caused me to get a later bus which meant I got home at 5:30. :( So, I didn't manage to do as much as I hoped, but I managed to do a tiny bit.

13/09

- Legal, accounting and economics were normal, just covered some more content and progressed through the course.
- Eng lang was quite fun since we were looking at different dialects and looking how languages die and how they're born.
- Psych was the highlight for the day since we finished the whole course today. Whoooo! Another highlight was we had a revision lecture for psych after school (our psych teachers are seriously the best) which covered mainly Unit 3 since we did that a really long time ago, with a little focus on Unit 4. After, we had some celebratory pizza to celebrate our accomplishment. :)

14/09

Today was a pretty good day overall.

- Firstly I had methods, in which we did matrices. Thankfully, I did this topic last weekend so it actually made sense to me.  ;D
- Legal, economics and accounting were like normal, just covered more content and moved through the course.
- In psych, our teacher went through exam guides and tips and the overall structure of the exam, since we finished the content yesterday.

I also got to finish after lunch, so that meant I could get through a bit of psych as I was a bit behind. So yeah, overall a pretty nice day. Can't wait for Friday tomorrow ahah. :)

15/09

- Psychology was quite informative today, as we went over areas that we were the weakest in and attempted to know all the dot points in the study design. However, we have our trial exam next week so I'm a bit stressed about that, meaning I'll have to cram the whole course this weekend and into next week.
- In methods, we went over solving simultaneous equations using matrices, which was not as hard as I imagined it would be.
- English language, legal and economics were like normal, we just covered more stuff and content.

18/09

Today was a pretty chill overall.
- I had methods first up, in which we went through transformations using matrices. Luckily, I did this the night before so I was able to understand it well.
- Psych was cancelled since this week is trial exam week, so I tried to get some revision done on the area I wasn't quite sure about.
- Accounting was normal and we just moved through the content.
- In Eng Lang, we looked at language change and language misuse, and had to create a podcast on different varieties of English and whether they would be considered language misuse or language change, which was quite fun.

19/09

Today was probably a really chill day, so nothing much to add.
- In accounting, we had a work period, so after doing a bit of accounting work, I did some psych revision for my trial exam on Thursday.
-Legal, Eng lang and methods were normal, and we just covered more content.
- We were supposed to have double eco for period 6 and 7, but only 2 people (including myself) showed up (because mostly everyone had trial exams for popular subjects like bio and accounting). So we just asked our teacher if we could leave early and he was like sure. Because of this, I managed to get through a practise exam for psych in preparation for Thursday.

20/09
Today I was kind of nervous because of my trial exam tomorrow.
- Eng lang, eco, accounting and legal were normal, we just moved through the content and all.
- However, since all 3/4 classes were cancelled this week, I got to leave after period 4 and got home quite early. This meant I could do a lot of psych revision, which basically constituted of me reading a shit ton of my notes, and doing a practise exam. I'm just going through some of the content with my friend now. I can also wake up quite late tomorrow since my trial exam starts at 1:45, meaning I don't need to get to school till then, yay!

21/09:

Today I had my psych trial exam. Since it was in the afternoon, I woke up at a nice time of around 9, and did a bit of revision before heading to school. As for the trial exam itself, I was quite underwhelmed, since it was the exact same sample exam that VCAA published earlier this year. Considering I had done the multiple choice previously for this exam, I was able to breeze through the multiple choice. I felt this didn't really give me an indicator on my time management as 50 marks of the paper was prior knowledge. However, the trial exam did tell me I needed to work on my extended response, as I struggled a bit due to the one in the sample paper being quite open ended.

22/09:

Last day of term, I was pretty hyped. All classes were basically free because we didn't learn much, if anything at all. We finished school early, so I went to the city with a bunch of friends, and we got food and played pool. So that was pretty nice. :)

9/10:
Today was a dreaded day since I had to go back to school, which meant waking up at 6 rather than 10, the time I woke up in the holidays.  :'(
But it was quite a nice day overall, with the highlight being receiving my psych trial exam back. I managed to astound myself by getting 92% since I thought I completely screwed up the exam because I lost motivation halfway through since it was the same sample exam VCAA posted. Most of the mistakes I made were in one question (feelsbad) and something I could easily improve on in the actual exam by taking a longer time to read the question instead of rushing through it. I was very proud of the fact that I managed to get 9 on the extended response section, meaning that I could easily improve this for the real exam through completing more extended responses.

-In Eng Lang we started to look at the rise of English as the global lingua franca which led to the homogenisation of cultural identities around the world, and were told we had to write a practise essay that was due in 2 weeks.  :'( This also meant that everyone in my class used the non-fiction section of the library for the first time.  ;D
- We started probability in methods, which is by far my most hated topic in the entirety of methods, so I need to really understand it in order to boost my grades to get into UMEP.

10/10:

The only highlights for today probably were;
-In economics, we looked at globalisation and how we would benefit from a more globalised world.
- I revised a crap ton for my psych SAC tomorrow (last one ever!). I'm pretty confident with all the content I've learned in this AoS and hope I can ace this SAC as well. But, the dreading date of November the second draws closer and closer, and each day I slowly realise there is about 3 weeks to go before the final exam. So, I'm going to have to be in super mode and learn alllllll the AoS's as well as do a few more practice exams.

Post by: forbiddensoulxx on October 14, 2017, 05:48:05 pm
On Wednesday, our Eng Lang teacher told us that the practice essay isn't actually a practice essay and it's going to be assessed. I wouldn't mind it so much, if it weren't for the fact that the psych exam is in LESS THAN 3 WEEKS. On the note of psych, we had our SAC on Wednesday. I think I went pretty well overall, but I blanked out for one of the questions and went full 'blehhhh' mode. So I'm certain I lost around 1 or 2 marks, but I'm really disappointed as I found the SAC quite easy overall.

Our normal economics teacher got back this term, so I learned more from him in 2 lessons than I learned from the teacher who replaced him last term in the entirety of the term. :D Globalisation seems like a really interesting topic, so I'm looking forward to learn more about it. Accounting is sorta a bludge for me right now, since I mostly do other work in it.

I'm actually dreading the chapter we're doing in Methods right now- probability. It's soo hard to wrap my head around, which I can't afford since I need an A average if I want to get into UMEP. I also have to write a UMEP application to my principal first, since he needs to recommend me to do the extension itself, so I have to write the application for that (really hoping I get into it, because I'd rather do this than accounting). :'(

Alright, mid week update.

We got our last ever Psych SAC back (yay!). While I only dropped 1 mark across the SAC, I was quite disappointed since it was an easy SAC and I knew all the content that was being assessed and way more. Also, since a bunch of people also got 39, it didn't feel like a great score.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

For legal, I had a presentation of the laws regarding gender reassignment, which I thankfully finished the research for in the first week of holidays. My teacher said my group was really good and we basically got full marks (yay).

For Eng Lang, the essay I have to write on English as a lingua franca leading to the homogenisation of cultural identities is coming along pretty decent, it's due in a week and I've only got a body paragraph and conclusion to go (If anyone would be mildly interested in reading it, please chuck me a PM).

Methods is going horribly. We had a test on matrices last week and I screwed up the easiest question ever, omfg. I'm a bit stressed about methods as I need an A average for UMEP, and my average right now is B... Oh and we're doing probability right now, which is  undoubtedly one of my most-hated topics.

Economics is going pretty well, we finished the whole course today and are just doing some revision. For accounting, we've almost finished the course and have a test next Tuesday. :(

Alrighttt, posting a bit late but psych exam is over ayyy. I don't think I did as well as I could have and definitely made some silly errors, such as forgetting to include crucial detail in my short answer and extended response answer. So, I'm a bit disappointed as I knew all my content, but unfortunately didn't write in a manner which I think reflected the best of my ability. Although, to boost my morale up, I cross-checked my multiple choice answers with howey's suggested answers, and am pretty sure I'm sitting on at least a 48 out of 50 for that, which is pretty nice.

I've got exams for my 1/2's, so last week, this week and the start of next week are going to be a bit stressful. I had my economics and eng lang exam on Friday, the day after my psych exam so I literally had to cram in everything I needed for eco the night before. For eng lang, I had a 2 hour break between my exams, so crammed up during that time, even though during the exam I bs'ed so much, lmao.

Pretty happy I've got no school until Thursday, when my accounting exam is, which I've done a bit of revision for. Legal and Exam 1 for methods is on Friday, which I am not looking forward to, and Exam 2 for methods in on Monday. Hopefully I can pull through over my looooooong 'weekend' and get some content into my brain before my exams resume. Other than that, I also handed in my uni extension application last week, so fingers crossed all goes well and I get the principal approval.

I've applied for the Melb Uni Economics Extension, but I may not get that because my methods grades aren't too good. So I've also applied for the RMIT Economics Extension.

Oh crap, haven't posted here in a loooong time, AHAHA. Some nice updates, the first being school finally finished today! No more worrying about SAC's or exams until next year. :) Since we finished early today, I went to see Justice League with a couple of friends, which was a much needed change in scenery from home, school and metro train carriages.

Anyyyway, on to exams and all, I guess I did decent in my exams, I was happy with most of them except for methods, because I thought I did much better than I actually did. I was so happy with my eco exam because I managed to lose only 4 marks even though I thought I screwed up the exam and basically winged and binged the content the afternoon after my psych exam on Thursday to prep for my eco exam on Friday, loool.
Eng lang was also a nice mark, which was basically what I expected. I was extremely happy with legal because I got one of the highest marks of my cohort, (but I think my teacher was being a bit too generous marking my paper because he likes me as a student, ahaha.)
Accounting was a bit disappointing as I got a letter grade less than I expected and would have liked, and found out my theory was the thing that lost me the most marks, so feelsbad.
Now the dreaded methods, somehow, exam 1 got scaled a lot so that 70% became an A, and exam 2 didn't scale up a lot given it was quite easy, which I'm quite disappointed with since I thought I did everything to a respectable standard. But I guess that just means I have to try even harder next year. :)

And I received my completed uni extension form with the principal approval today, after almost 3 weeks of chasing it up. God, the administration in my school is seriously terrible, like I've asked about it almost a bajillion times and they only managed to get me back my form on the last day of school, lmao. However, I'm a bit skeptic about it, since UMEP Eco requires an average of A in methods and eco, the eco part I got covered, but for methods my average is B+ (I'm counting B as 79% where B+ ranges from 75-79%, and so on with the other letter grades.) Hopefully, the school I go to makes it a bit more lenient in terms of the average required, because I also sent in a RMIT Extension form to my principal, but he signed the UMEP one and gave only that one back to me.

My experience was not getting a subject selected I wanted and got transferred to 4 different staff members to deal with it.... >:(

Okayyy, time for a long overdue update.

I'm quite frustrated and annoyed at my school because of my uni extension issue. I originally gave them both a RMIT and UoM uni extension form, saying only to sign the UoM one if I got an average of A in methods. Not even regarding the huge time delay and chasing up, I got the UoM form even though my average was only B+. I wasn't able to ask for the RMIT one since they due date was the day after and the staff were in a meeting or something. So, no surprise, a few weeks ago, I get an email from UoM saying I didn't get in because I didn't have the required A average.

Apart from that, school's been nice. It was really nice to see all my friends again, and my teachers are thankfully all good. The only thing is that we're gonna get our Year 12 jumpers sooo late, since we haven't even decided on a design yet and the school won't let us wear them until Anzac Day...

-Legal Studies seems to be quite interesting, since we're basically looking at the things that make up the legal system through things such as what justice and all is.
-Methods doesn't seem too bad as I did a little work over the holidays, so I'm not scratching my head thinking what the hell is going on.
-For economics, we haven't had a proper class all week, since for our first class, the teacher wasn't here. Our teacher wasn't here for our double at the end of the day either, so we got to go home early, which was pretty nice. :)
-Eng Lang is going to take a bit of extra time for me to understand, because I didn't honestly learn too much last year, but I'm optimistic for this year.
-Accounting doesn't seem as bad as I initially thought and I might actually enjoy the stuff we're gonna be learning.

Good to hear you're mostly happy getting back to school. My school still hasn't put out any word on school jumpers but said last year they will only be made available when school determined cohort behaviour was in order :(

Legal studies is indeed fun! I have my sac in only a few weeks and am looking forward to it. How are you finding the content?

Ahh damn, that must suck ahaha, since a few bad eggs could potentially ruin the final year for a lot of people?

And ooh, good luck! I think we've got about a month till ours, which I'm thankful for aha. Even though we haven't looked at too much content, the content we've gone through looks really fascinating as you could say the entirety of the legal system is based upon it. Through determining principles such as fairness, equality and access, it gives you a great overview into what our legal system truly aims to achieve. How are you finding it?

This week has been both quite fun and chill for me. I've still got to get used to the 6 am wake-ups though, but that's just gonna take a bit of time. Overall, I can already see my workload increasing even only in the second week in. But, this year I'm not leaving most my work until the weekend (like last year ahaha) and do a bit, whether it be notes or homework, each day (except Friday, because that's my work-free day). Once again, I'm really happy with the teachers I have, and feel like I can really push myself this year with their help. To not go totally insane, I'm keeping up playing tennis (training and competition). I've also applied to be in the Year 12 Debating team, as well as the school's Economics Club President. Now for individual subjects:

- Methods: This was one of the 2 subjects I was dreading this year, but I'm giving more time to it because it's not my strong point. I can already see that this approach is working for me as I am able to understand the concepts we're learning. My teacher is also good as she provides us with a lot of resources such as worksheets to enhance and consolidate what we've learnt.
- Eng Lang: This was the other subject I was dreading, but again, like Methods I'm trying to give more time to it to relearn all the metalanguage so I'm fully able to understand it and apply it fairly easily. I've got the head of Eng Lang as my teacher as a bonus, and he explains concepts really easily and in a manner which makes sense. We're currently looking at information flow and its features like cohesion and coherence, and we've got a test on it next week.
- Legal: It's by far one of my 2 favourite subjects, and I'm really glad for the new study design. The way my teacher explained it, the new study design looks at the smaller concepts first, which are currently Unit 3  (but were Unit 4 last year), and the larger concepts which are currently Unit 4 (but were Unit 3 last year). My teacher's also great, even though his teaching's not straight to the point, he fleshes out concepts and relates them to cases and the legislation they were produced from a lot. Combined with his long experience as a lawyer, I know I'll be able to learn a lot from him. We're currently doing the Rights of Victims and still looking at how a large number of factors contribute in determining if justice has been achieved.
- Economics: This is my other favourite subject. I'm relieved the first AOS closely resembles Unit 1 and 2, for a lot of my subjects, since this allows me to get my bearings and get back into the school routine without exploding. We've just finished recapping markets and how relative prices interact with the price mechanism, which I found to be a really interesting topic. My teacher is also great, since he also explains concepts in a really easy manner, then adds more body onto them by explaining them with real world applications and examples.
- Accounting: It's a bit complex to get my head around some of the content, such as double entry accounting which we've started on, but once I got the concept, it doesn't seem too bad. Hopefully I feel like this all throughout the year ahaha. My teacher is good, which helps making the subject not feel like a chore.

Forgot to post last week, oops. Nothing really new happened last week, just going through the grind, but I'm glad I felt last week went by quickly. I had my debating team trials last Wednesday, and got in. I've got my Economics Club President interview tomorrow, so hyped for that.
Accounting: We went over and finished double entry accounting, which I thought would be really hard. But once I wrapped my head around footing and balancing, it was a breeze. I seriously feel this was much easier than much of the Unit 2 chapters last year. Here's hoping everything later on is such as breeze to.
Legal Studies: What we're learning in Unit 3 so far, issues such as justice and the rights of the accused and the victim, as well as pre-trial procedures are an 'extension' to what we learnt last year. This means we haven't started too much content yet, but Legal isn't looking that bad. We finished looking at justice specifically, but we're looking at pre-trial procedures, and how these encompass the elements of justice.
Economics: My teacher is seriously the best. He's really nice, cracks jokes and makes learning fun. We worked through recapping supply and demand, and things such as contraction and expansion of supply and demand, as well as looking at microeconomic factors which increase or decrease demand and supply. I'm really looking forward to looking at the Australian economy specifically in a bit.
English Language: It's kinda hard to follow, because we don't really have a set structure to lessons, as in what we follow and do each week. But we looked at discourse last week, and information flow. This isn't complex, but there's a lot of stuff to remember, and it can get quite confusing for stuff like end-weight and end-focus.
Methods: My teacher was away all week because she was sick for half the week and then had conferences for the other half. She gave us a worksheet the week before to work through. So I worked on that, as well as sticking to the syllabus we were given. So far, so good. The content doesn't seem too complex, except for composite functions, which I mostly got after a lot of explaining from my tutor.

Sorry for dying for like two weeks. But I can't believe we have less than a month left till term 1 ends. I swear it feels like we only started the term last week. Oh yeah, I also got Economics President, so I'm really happy about that! I've started the club on a competition on the ASX Sharemarket Game, so it's gonna be exciting to look at who makes the most profitable portfolio. My tennis team also got into the semi finals which were yesterday, but we lost by a close margin. I was quite unhappy because I know I didn't play to the best of my ability and probably could have played a lot better. One thing I'm not looking forward to is 4 SAC's in the next 3 weeks...

Accounting: We finished looking at GST, and basically finished looking at specialised journals. This topic was pretty understandable because we covered basically all the specialised journals in Unit 2 last year. I've also got a SAC in 3 weeks, I'm feeling pretty hopeful and confident as I understand all that we've done so far, even though I may have to brush up a bit on my theory.

Economics: AoS 1 is basically finished, since we looked at market failures this week. Again, we haven't really covered any new content in this AoS, apart from elasticity. This means I'm able to know the content well since we covered it last year and I really grasped the concept. We're going to start looking at government failures next week, by when we'll have properly finished AoS. We've also got our SAC is 2 weeks, which I am not looking forward to, no matter how well I know my content. What's worse is that my economics SAC is on the same day as my Eng Lang SAC, so yeah...

Legal Studies: We've finished looking at most of Chapter 5 from the Justice and Outcomes textbook, with the exception of sanctions. We also have to cover the whole of chapter 5 before our SAC in 3 weeks. Our teacher had us do a practice SAC under test conditions. I found that pretty straight forward to be honest and think I did pretty decently. We should get our marks back tomorrow, but the other legal class got theirs back on Friday and the average was really low, so not sure what to make of that.

Methods: For once I feel glad I'm doing methods. I don't have a SAC for it this term, phew! I swear if I had a SAC for all my subjects in the span of a week, I would have gone mental. This is definitely my least liked subject, event though one of the reasons for me choosing it is because it's a pre-requisite for commerce. We should be looking at derivates, but our teacher wants to go through logs and exponentials before we do the derivates of them, which does make sense ahaha.

English Language: We're not really following a structure on what we're learning, so I'm a bit confused. We had a mini test on information flow, and I did pretty well and was happy. Our teacher started going through how to write an analytical commentary, and I was just analysing a text before posting this update. I'm not stoked either about the SAC we have in 2 weeks, or the fact that it's after school on a Friday, or the fact that it's almost 2 hours long...

Procrastinating by writing this, solid. I found out my legal SAC got moved to the same time as my accounting SAC next week, so I'm going to go try to get the accounting one rescheduled as I'd rather cram more theory after my economics SAC this Friday. On the upside, my Eng Lang SAC got moved back to next Friday, so that's a plus. I can't believe we only have 3 weeks until the term ends, I'm so forward looking to it.

Accounting- I'm sorta glad I chose this over GloPol right now, because there's mainly a practical aspect to accounting, albeit it does have a little theory. If most, if not all, my subjects were theory, I would have died. We've finished looking at specialised journals and have our SAC on chapters 1-6 (maybe 7- teacher isn't sure yet) next Tuesday. But because I've got a clash with legal, I'm going to try change it.

Economics- We've finished looking at AoS 1, which would be concerning if we hadn't given our SAC is in 4 days ahaha. I feel like I've got a pretty strong understanding of what we've done, from supply and demand to market failures and government failures. I'm also pretty confident going into the SAC, but just have to do a bit of brushing up before Friday.

Legal Studies- I feel bad for neglecting this since half-way last week until today, because I prioritised my other subjects over this. But I've done my notes on basically everything we've covered in class and have a good grasp on the concepts. I'm a little worried because apparently we are going to have reforms to laws on our SAC, but we haven't even finished the chapter before that on sentencing factors... Hopefully we don't get screwed and reforms won't be on the SAC.

English Language- I feel pretty good about my preparation for this, I wrote an AC last week and got pretty good feedback on it from my teacher. I wrote another AC yesterday and took into account his feedback and will give it to him to read tomorrow. We've also got a practice SAC tomorrow, so I'm hoping I can accurately see what areas I need to improve in.

Methods- I've been ignoring this even more than legal studies, maybe because we don't have a SAC for it this term. I'm not behind on the concepts or such, but just on the questions from the textbook we do. Overall, I'm not too bad with what we've learned so far, even if I would sometimes prefer we could just not learn anything new and be tested on like year 9 maths.

I had my economics SAC yesterday, which I guess I did decently in. I feel like I may have screwed up a mark or two, but considering the whole thing was only 20 marks, even that would be quite a lot. But now that eco is over, I can focus on the 3 other SAC's I have lined up next week... yay me, can't wait for hell week to begin. But apart from that, everything's been going pretty well. We were told we'll be getting our garment (rugby tops) in mid May, pushed back from the end of April, so that's a bit annoying. But don't even get me started on the issues just on the garments at our school.

In terms of subjects, there's not much to talk about since for 4 of them, we've just been revising for the SAC. Legal is a bit hectic though because we literally only finished the last topic that can be covered on the SAC on Thursday, so making notes and stuff was a bit annoying last minute. On the subject on SAC's, I couldn't get my accounting SAC because it took precedence over the legal one, so now I'll be doing accounting on Tuesday, legal on Wednesday, and eng lang on Friday.

How'd you find 1/2 accounting? Teacher and I do not get along but I understand everything but my soul is absolutely drained.

Hey, I did bus man for Unit 1, but ended up switching to account for Unit 2. It was decent I guess, my teacher was really chill about it and everyone who did it basically considered it a bludge. But imo, 3/4 so far is easier to follow and understand than last year. If you understand everything but don't enjoy it, I personally would change subjects, because that's how I felt with bus man.

Okay, hell week for this term in now over, yay! I had my accounting SAC on Tuesday, which I feel I screwed up a bit of theory and one of the ledgers, because there was only one creditor and I wrote everything as creditors control instead of creditor-(name of individual creditor). Hopefully we'll get it back next week and I can see what else I need to improve on. Also, I found out this years SAC was basically the same as last years... but then again the psych SAC this year was the same as my one last year ahaha.

Legal was a bit of a rip, I knew all my stuff but I couldn't remember one other factor taken into consideration when sentencing an accused apart from mitigating and aggravating factors, but I remembered guilty pleas. I'm annoyed because the SAC was only 25 marks and that's 2 marks I already lost. Hopefully I wrote really well for the other parts so I can have a strong start to the year.

Eng Lang was yesterday, it was an actual rip for everyone. The text we got for our AC was so bad, like we couldn't analyse many features, so we couldn't write much in total. I'm not too certain about the short answer either, because one of the questions was confusing. But hopefully since most people did bad, I did less worse than them, and hopefully we get the SAC back before term ends.

We also got our economics SAC back yesterday. I guess I'm happy with how I went, since I got the equal highest mark with around 1/6 of the cohort. I'm a bit annoyed because I lost a mark on an easy question which I knew the answer to, but didn't include in my answer. But oh well, guess that just gives me an area to improve for next time.

I did BusMan 1/2 last year and absolutely hated it for the whole year. Now in 3/4 I absolutely love it and the content is so much better. Did you find it similar with accounting.

Yeah I guess you could put it that way to an extent. I didn't find the content in unit 2 accounting all that interesting, but what we're doing currently in 3/4 accounting is much more enjoyable for me.

Sorry for the prolonged absence :( I'll start off with the last week of term 1.

I got my other 3 SAC's back! I was kind of disappointed with accounting since I lost 8 marks, and I thought I would not lose more than 5. The SAC wasn't that hard or anything, and the theory wasn't complicated, but as a result of silly mistakes and not using relevant enough responses, I lost marks. But oh well, guess the harsher my teacher is right now, the better it will be for me during the exam. Speaking of my teacher, she's taking long service leave, which is quite unfortunate since her replacement is some teacher I (more rather, everyone) despises. He was our eco replacement last year as well, and we all know we're not going to be learning the rest of Unit 3 from him. We literally spend a double period going over one exercise from the workbook that we were supposed to do over the holidays, so we haven't even started on any new content yet...

On a little better note, I got what I expected for my legal SAC. I'm quite annoyed (constructively annoyed? if that's even a thing), even though I got a good score, I could have easily aced it had I not forgotten sentencing factors, rip. On a much better note, I got way more than I expected for Eng Lang. I somehow did amazing in short answer even though I lowkey thought I bombed it, lol. And because of that, my mark got carried to a decent mark despite my average AC.

Over the holidays, I'd be lying if I said I did much work. I basically took the whole first week off, and just chilled and was lazy. Even in the second week, I didn't do too much work (which I regret because it's all piling up now (who would've guessed right!). The start to school was as expected, even though the whole cohort is a bit salty that we still can't skip form assembly if we have a double free first two. So, we basically have to waste around 2 hours for a 10 minute form meeting where you just get your name marked off most of the time.

Now, onto subjects:
Legal:We've started looking at civil law, which is something I hope to pursue in the future, so far the content we're learning is pretty basic and just the fundamentals. What surprised me is how much it costs to have a case heard in court... For some matters, you literally won't be left with half the amount of damages you seek.
English Language: Due to crappy timetabling and school events, we only had one lesson of eng lang last week, and don't have another lesson until Thursday next week. So, our teacher just told us to prepare for the end of the year exam through building on our quote bank.
Accounting: Since we won't be learning any other Unit 3 content, I got a head start (however small) on the holidays in terms of the theory of the next chapter, so I've just been working through the exercises and concreting the way revenue and expense accounts are closed off for the P&L summary.
Economics: Holy, we're moving so fast through the content. We literally finished a whole chapter on Australia's macroeconomic goal of strong and sustainable economic growth in a week, a week... So far, I've just been furiously trying to understand the concept so I can make my notes to help me for the SAC we have in 3 weeks.
Methods: This is going so bad. We had a test on differential calculus on Friday, and I felt like I was so prepared and knew how to do what we were taught. Come to the test, and I wanted to start knocking my head on the table. Let's just say it was a complete fail. I'm also not looking forward to the methods SAC we have in 3 weeks time as well.

I'm hoping to get whatever I want to get done (mainly eco notes, eng lang quote bank and methods stuff) since I basically have a 4 day weekend (Saturday, Sunday, half day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday). I'm probably not going to get any work done on Wednesday though because I'm going to see Infinity War with friends. Oml, I can't believe it's coming out, I'm so hyped for it.

We're in week 4 of term already... Wow. The SAC's and work are piling up now though, so at least that keeps me occupied and gets me amazed at how fast time has flied. I've got an accounting SAC coming up on Wednesday, and an economics and methods SAC next week. At least I have a day off tomorrow which'll allow me to fully prepare for accounting. Also, we still haven't gotten our garments yet, even though they were initially supposed to be delivered on Anzac Day, and now they're getting pushed to basically the end of May. :/ Moving onto subjects:

Methods: We've 'started' integration, but the majority of our time this term was just spent reviewing everything up to calculus in preparation for the project this week, and the SAC next week. I feel like completely giving up on methods (even though I do all the work and when I think I grasp a concept, I get stumped on a test), but I guess that'll really depend on how my SAC goes.
English Language: We've had sooo many disruption to our classes since the start of term. For example, we have a day off school tomorrow for parent teacher interviews, so we miss out on our double class. Factor things being similar to this since the start of the term, and I'd say we've had less than 10 classes in total for the term. In terms of content, we've started looking at formal language, and from what I can understand as of now, it shares features with informal, but the usage of said features is what differentiates the two.
Economics: I'm quite confident for this, and am hopeful for the SAC next week. But dang we've been moving sooo fast. We basically covered each macroeconomic goal in less than a week. I've been regularly going over my notes, as well as the dot points from the study design and can answer almost all for this AoS. I'm going to focus a bit more on eco after my accounting SAC on Wednesday, and actually start doing previous years' SAC's.
Legal: I'm starting to fall a bit behind in terms of content in this, mainly because I'm focusing more on the more pressing subjects which I have SAC's coming up for. But once they're all done, I'll catch up (I'm not thaaat behind, only like a 3 subchapters). Right now, we've started looking at civil pre trial procedures like pleadings and discovery, and also made a start on the court hierarchy.
Accounting: The replacement teacher was as hopeless as everyone predicted. He basically taught us nothing new, and wasn't even aware that we had a SAC last week... But apart from that issue, I'm feeling pretty confident about this as well. I've been keeping up to date with my practical work, and revise theory often and am able to apply it to questions. So, hopefully I'll go well come Wednesday.

Ooookay, so I've been gone for a really long time, oops. I will try my best to keep to a regular schedule from now on. We're almost at the end of the term, and I can't believe it! These past weeks have zoomed by, mainly because of the stresses associated with a piling up of SAC's. I also have tennis tomorrow, which I'm really looking forward to, but I probably won't play well because my ankle swell at recess today when my leg slammed into a cold cold concrete pillar  :-\ . I'll talk about individual subjects below (mostly complaining about SAC's), but I wanted to share this economics debate that I did.

So basically, my teacher asked me (since I'm Eco Club pres) whether I'd be interested, and heck yeah I was. It was just a normal debate, but with economic issues as the topics, and instead of the matter being 40% like normal, it was 60%. It was a pretty fun day, and my school entered 2 teams (me, a friend, and another friend were one team). We versed PLC for the first round, and were gracious enough to be in the presence of the author of our textbook, so my friend was just fanboying over him. We managed to win by a point, and versed Fintona for the next round. This was a pretty good debate too and we managed to win this as well. That meant we were in the semi-finals (unexpected because we just prepared literally the night before for the debate). It was a close debate but unfortunately we lost by a point. :( Alas, our school's glory was reignited since our other team, who also got into the semi's, managed to win and got to the finals, where they won!

Legal: We just had our SAC on AoS2 on Wednesday. Everyone basically did badly because we felt we were really rushed for time and weren't given enough time especially due to the mark allocation, which consisted of 2 two markers, a five marker, a six marker and a ten marker. Basically everyone agreed even 5 minutes extra would have made all the difference in the world. But hopefully since the teachers know the time restriction, they'll mark accordingly. Anyway, this is the only subject we've finished Unit 3 in and made a start on Unit 4. We started learning about the Constitution yesterday, which was something we covered last year as well, so it's something I'm looking forward to as I found it interesting.

Economics: We also had a SAC for this like 2 (maybe 3) weeks ago. I guess I'd be really really nitpicky if I said I wasn't happy with my result because it helped me maintain my rank 1... I feel bad because one of the multi choice I got wrong was related to something our teacher explicitly told us about, but I interpreted the question in a different way. :( We started AoS3 right after going the SAC, and oh boy, we've moved so fast we've finished Unit 3 today. While I am behind in eco because I had to revise for the Legal SAC, thankfully AoS3 is only one chapter (albeit it being 30 or so pages). But, we have another SAC for it in less than 2 weeks. :(

Accounting: Soo, even though the replacement teacher provides a great source of entertainment, everyone wants our normal teacher back. He literally goes over exercises in the workbook and spends maybe 5 minutes teaching us the actual content. After doing the SAC 2 weeks ago, I felt pretty confident as I looked at similar questions and my responses were basically the same as the correct answers. Come today, when we get our SAC back, he's marked me and the rest of the class down. There was a question on saying one use of stock cards, and he essentially gave everyone 1 out of 2 marks because we all only gave one answer instead of two... We all asked the other accounting teacher to re-check this, so hopefully that will get fixed. But other than that, we have a massive SAC for this in two and a bit weeks too, rip.

Methods: I'm not even going to talk about the last SAC, it was that horrendous. In terms of content, we've basically covered integration, and are preparing for, are you ready, another SAC in two weeks! I've really gotta catch up on this since it's my most neglected subject.

English Language: Just when I thought I couldn't get any more SAC's... We have a SAC next week! But I feel confident and prepared for this. I wrote a formal AC on Wednesday night and last night, and gave both to my teacher to mark over the weekend. In terms of content, I shouldn't be too bad since the SAC is just on formal language, and has the same format as the first where we only have short answer and an AC. Our teacher has also started teaching us how to structure and write the essay, which I am finding the most challenging by far.

I'm done with SAC's for the term, woohoo! The past week or two have been quite chill, since I've had multiple 'holidays'. 2 weeks ago week, I had Tuesday off well since I didn't have a SAC, and basically had a 4 day weekend. I had last Friday off as well since no SAC's, and seniors basically had today off. So while this term is '12 weeks', it probably was only like 10 weeks for me. We also finally got our Year 12 Garments! Even though they're not hoodies as everyone wanted (school thinking hoodies are way too informal and if we wanted them, we could only wear them after we finish trial exams...), they don't look too bad. The insignia has a really nice finish, but it's kind of funny because the producer of our garments kept the insignia the same size for different sizes. So, a person wearing an extra small would have a relatively large insignia comparative to a person wearing an extra large (If anyone wants to see to design, lemme know and I'll post a picture of it). Also, I can't believe Unit 3 is over, I seriously don't feel almost half a year has passed, and that I'd be finished with exams and school in less than 5 months... My subject discussion is just going to be me talking about how I went with my SAC's.

English Language: The short answer part was quite tricky, and I spent wayy too much time doing them (although I did the exact same thing for the last SAC as well...). There was a question about political correctness which I was stuck on, so I ended up basically b'sing most of it. The extract we got for the AC was quite easy to talk about since it was a mix of formal and informal, and had many features to analyse.

Economics: I'm quite happy with how I went, since I understood everything, wrote what the question needed (hopefully), and elaborated a bit beyond. Knowing how gun of a teacher we have, we'll probably get it back tomorrow (seeing we only did it last Thursday).

Legal: Haven't touched this since the SAC, lmao.

Methods: Yeah, quite obviously my worst subject. I felt I did enough preparation for the SAC we had on everything up to integration, but still struggled. I went decent on the tech free, and answered everything (even though it may be wrong), but hit a bump on tech active since I spent too much time on one question and as a result left quite a bit unanswered. I'll work on doing some more tech active application questions, and hopefully that'll improve my ability to understand these sort of questions.

Accounting: I spent my 3 day weekend prepping for this. It's a bit difficult to know how and what to write right now, because I know what my original teacher would want in terms of quality, but that doesn't seem to suffice for the replacement teacher we have for the term... We all can't wait until next term when she comes back, and constantly joke about throwing a party when she comes back, ahaha. But the actual SAC was a bit ehhh, even though it was the exact same as last years (again)... There were a few questionable questions, since one of them required us to calculate the depreciation expense of a non-current asset, and gave us basically just accumulated depreciation, historical cost and depreciation rate, but not the reporting period... I also found out I screwed up a question asking us about GST clearing because instead of saying 'GST received on cash sales', I said 'Cash sales', which I'm quite annoyed about.

I promise I do not die for like 3 weeks (or in this case, almost 4) every time I do an update (once again, this entry is going to be quite long ahaha). Holidays went by wayyy too quickly. I actually can't believe we've started Term 3 and that I'll be free of school in exactly 4 months... Before I go onto subjects and finish off last term's SAC's, I'll start off how (un)productive my holidays were. On the last day of school, I went out with some friends and we had lunch, then played pool (like tradition).

I was so happy since I could do absolutely nothing for a few days, but then I remembered I signed up to do a case competition with some friends which was due on the Tuesday of the first week of the holidays. So basically, we (there were 3 of us) went into this with a positive attitude first, then continued for the lols and the memes. The case we got was a neobank, and strategies they could implement in their next update to make them a more reputable brand and start earning profit. So basically, we worked half day everyday from Saturday to Tuesday (since it was due 5 pm Tuesday). We absolutely did not think we did that well to be honest, and we just aimed to get it the presentation finished. So, what we had to do now was sent it into the judges to judge our presentation, and if they liked our idea, we would get invited to the regional finals held THAT Saturday. Come Thursday, when the result came out, we were ecstatic we got in since we didn't expect such an outcome at all. So, on Saturday, we went to the venue they told us to in the city, and gave our presentation. The judges were nice and seems knowledgable, but I lost a bit of hope when they were asking us questions and I could see their faces just blank. After we did our presentation, another friend and I left because we had to go somewhere, but our third team member stayed behind since they were announcing the results at 4 pm. And what do you know, we got 3rd place! We actually couldn't believe it, out of the 8 teams that came to the regional finals, we were the finalists for Melbourne, meaning we got into the global finals in Canberra. So long story short, even though we got in, we won't be going because the timing of the finals in really bad, since it's in between so many SAC's for us, as well as our team member not thinking we should go since we have to pay for our flight to Canberra, accomodation, and food (since they think this seems dodgy), and they're not sponsoring this at all. But the experience we got was quite nice and I learnt a lot.

Apart from the event, my holidays were quite chill. I started school work on Wednesday, and basically just started to catch up on holiday homework and get a bit ahead of class. I went out a few times during the holidays (last week basically), to play laser tag and watch a movie, as well as a few birthdays. Last Friday, I also went to an economics lecture/event Melbourne Uni held, which basically talked about careers and pathways into economics and they also gave us tips for the final economics exam.

English Language: Okay, so I didn't do as well as I hoped. My prediction of how I went on SA was basically spot on, and even though I spent the most time on it, I choked it the hardest. I was disappointed, but seeing how I went on my AC made me feel a bit better. I improved from last time, and while it was only an improvement of 2 marks (from 24 to 26/30), this puts me in the higher range of marks for the AC. So basically, a reverse of the last SAC happened. This time, my AC carried me and my SA let me down. I also had to ask my teacher multiple times for a single mark (yes I'm one of those people) so that my grade could get bumped to the next letter. We started a bit of Unit 4 last term, but not in too much detail. However, I'm not too enthralled about the content in this Unit, and much preferred the content in Unit 3.

Legal Studies: I did the same as I did last SAC. While it's an extremely good score, I feel like I could have easily not lost the 2 marks I did. So, what I basically see from this is that I know my stuff well, but just need to make it 'individual' as to it can't be confused with another part of my answer, and basically work on my expression. We have our first SAC for U4 in 4 weeks, and we're halfway through AoS1. Hopefully we actually finish this on time with enough time for revision, unlike every time in U3.

Economics: I'm quite disappointed and disheartened by how I went in this. I walked out really confident with how I went since I knew how to answer every question and spent more than a week on revision, but I lost 2 marks on really really really (really need to emphasise this) silly mistakes. When talking about an decrease in AD, I talked about how some factor would lead to a decrease in exports, but then proceeded to write rise in X and fall in M... Another example of a stupid mistake was when a question asked about how the CAFA could rise, I did this so many times on practice SAC's and knew the answer, but on the actual SAC I only wrote one part of the answer and forgot to write down the sale of Australian assets to overseas buyers. So, yeah, as you can guess I'm a little annoyed (plus, RIP rank 1 :( ).

Accounting: Okay so, I didn't screw up the question about the GST, my friend made me paranoid. I did decent, but could have done better if I read the question more carefully. The substitute teacher initially didn't give me any consequential marks, so the original mark I got was lower than what I got in the end. I'm also a bit sad since I'm one mark off an A+ for this as well ahaha. But, he's finally gone! Our normal teacher was back today and everyone honestly felt like celebrating.

Methods: Hahahah, what a joke. I'd rather not go into this detail about this SAC, or the next SAC we'll get back. But I did pretty bad in this, and I've already accepted this is in my bottom 2 (which I suspected at the start of the year). Our normal teacher is on long service leave, so we have a replacement teacher, and from what I've heard so far, she's quite good. So, hopefully, the last SAC I do for methods I can actually do well in.

Oops, procrastination took a whole new level. A lot has happened in the month and day since I last posted. The last few weeks were extremely stressful, primarily due to me having my Legal and Accounting SAC on Wednesday last week, coupled with Eco (Part 1) and Eng Lang on that Friday. This was continued by Eco (Part 2) on Monday this week. I feel like I say this every post, but I can't believe so much time has already passed, and I can't believe we're about to start Week 6 of the term. Here I was dreading the week from Hell a few weeks ago, to being through it and getting most my results next week...

Legal Studies: I can safely say we deviated away from the norm of not finishing content in time for revision, since we actually finished the content for the SAC basically a week and half before the SAC and moved onto U4AoS2. I'm a little annoyed by what was on the SAC, since it was very similar and rote based content to what was on the practice SAC we received, rather than more application type questions (if that makes sense). I also felt I performed poorly on this because I forgot to write to the detail that was needed for some parts, and this will (probably) be affirmed tomorrow when we get our SAC back. The other class (with a different teacher) got theirs back last week, and they got decent scores. During our last lesson, our teacher said that he was a bit upset since he is pretty sure our class got significantly lower than the other class.

Accounting: Accounting has been great so far this term. With our original teacher, things are back in motion and we are actually learning about accounting, rather than things like Chinese tea. The SAC we had was content I felt I had a good grasp on, and I think this was reflected in the SAC. I'll know whether I thought I knew the content tomorrow, when we get back this SAC tomorrow too. We also have a 'mini' SAC next Friday which covers a chapter and half of disposal of NCA's and balance day adjustments for revenue.

Economics: The pace we finished U4AoS1 was so fast. We finished budgetary policy in about 2 weeks and monetary in like a week and a half. We had two SAC's for AoS1, one on budgetary, and one on monetary. Our teacher is actually great, since I got back both of these this week, especially considering we just had the monetary policy SAC on Monday. I did pretty well, better than how I think I went. Continued reminiscence on what I wrote before getting results probably wasn't helpful as it brought down my expectation through me thinking I forgot to write some crucial detail. We've started looking at AS policies, which looks to be a pretty short chapter. In accordance, we have a SAC on it relatively soon in around 3 weeks.

Methods: The replacement teacher we have is quite good. We finished the whole course last week and I've managed to understand probability and stats better and quicker than most of the earlier stuff in the course. We still haven't gotten our second SAC back, which we did a couple of months ago, so yeah. We're just going to be doing revision of earlier topics for the new week or so, and we also have our last SAC in around 3 weeks.

English Language: I prefer the content we covered in U3, that isn't to say the content we've covered in U4 isn't useful or interesting to an extent. One thing I'm annoyed about is I've had about 10-15 less classes for Eng Lang compared to my other subjects throughout the whole year, so I felt and feel a bit 'less prepared' for Eng Lang SAC's. Our last SAC wasn't something I was too happy about, since my brain wasn't in the best state having done 3 SAC's in the last 2 days. I choked the AC quite hard, and basically blabbered on and bs'ed. I guess the same could be said for the essay, which was on cultural identity being reflected through the language we used. The arguments I had were solid, but I think I didn't unwrap them enough. I have no idea when we'll be getting this back.

Uhh, so if you couldn't tell, I'm getting really lazy this time of year. I finished the term yesterday since we had trial exams this whole week, and I finished all my ones yesterday. I can't believe there's less than 2 months from when I finish my last exam, time has actually gone by so quickly. I've been taking a break since yesterday, and probably will continue to do until Sunday. This whole week was really tiring, because I had my Eco trial exam on Monday, Legal on Tuesday, then Methods 1, Eng Lang AND Accounting on Wednesday, followed by Methods 2 on Thursday. I'm planning to relearn all the content for my subjects, and complete a few trial exams so I'm in a good position for the exams in a bit more than a month. I also finalised by UAC application and paid for it, while I've finalised the VTAC application but I'll pay for it in a couple of days.

Legal: So we ended up getting our SAC, and I did around what I expected I'd get, albeit I was hoping for a bit more. Our next SAC isn't till next term, so I have the holidays to get ready for it. We finished the whole course a few weeks ago, however rushed it was, and had just been revising for the trial exam. As for that, I literally studied for it a night or two before, so I was quite surprised I remembered a lot of the stuff. I feel like I blabbered on for some of the questions, and didn't address the key components of the question, as well as forgetting to add a bit of detail into the longer extended response questions such as the cost range for mediation. I guess I'll see how we go when we get it back next term.

Accounting: The 'mini' SAC went decently well. We got our mark back, but haven't gotten the actual SAC back, so I don't know where I went wrong. Our teacher decided to teach us performance evaluation first rather than budgeting, since she thought budgeting was fairly easy to learn at a later stage, and that performance evaluations were the rather tricky ones. We had our SAC on this a bit more than a week ago, and I think I went alright apart from 1 question which screwed me a bit because it was a discuss question, and I couldn't think of the other side to talk about. After the SAC, we started budgeting, which seems fairly easy to understand, as well as account reconstructions. As for the trial exam, I think I did well apart from a few questions, which I realised after the trial. For instance, we had to do a correcting entry against a bank statement, and I forgot the statement included GST, so my correcting entry was based on the amount in the bank statement plus the GST on top of that.

Economics: We finished AoS2 relatively quickly as well, and basically spent the last 2 or 3 weeks doing revision for the whole year. We also had our SAC on it, which I was a bit disappointed about since I lost rank 1 because of a very, very foolish mistake of writing cost inflation rather than demand inflation for what AD policies lead to. :( In terms of the whole year's worth of content, I'm feeling I can relearn it well enough for the actual exam, considering I understood most of it when I was studying for the trial. As for the trial, I feel I did well, but there were a few questions I was unsure about because of the wording, and for a few questions the mark allocation seemed a bit off.

Methods: Yeah, safe to say this is my worst subject by far. We got our second SAC, which was even more depressing than the first. We also had our last SAC which was on probability, which was really long. For tech free, I think like 90% of people didn't finish since our school crammed 60 marks into 40 minutes. For tech active, I found some parts a bit challenging and couldn't do all of them. I also didn't do that well for the trial exam, since I didn't know how to do questions on both tech free and tech active. I probably could have done more of the tech active, if I hadn't inputted the equation wrong into my CAS (which somehow happened even after me rechecking it like 3 times).

Eng Lang: We got our SAC back, and like I thought, I didn't do the best since I did a bit worse than I expected. We had another SAC on AoS2 about individual and group identities last week, and I think I did better this time around. I feel confident about how I went for short answer, but not as much for the essay. So, I'll be practising writing a lot of these over the holidays, as I feel they're my weakest out of the 3 sections of the exam. As for the trial, a similar sorta story follows. Short answer was decent, but I got stumped by a question which asked to talk about the types of adjectives used and how they contributed to the social purpose. I don't know any other than empty, so I don't think my answer was worth the 4 marks allocated to the question. I think was AC was pretty decent, but my essay was a bit rushed and repetitive since I thought I had less time than I actually did, if that makes sense.

I totally did not forget about this. The economics exam is tomorrow and I'm relaxing(?) by making this post. So, a lot has happened since my last post. We finished school! I've been at home since last Monday basically, 'revising' for all my subjects. I'm quite happy I finish school forever in basically 2 weeks and 2 days, when I have my Eng Lang exam.

Legal: The next SAC I was talking about, that didn't go so well. I ended up getting the 2nd lowest SAC score for any of my subjects (excluding methods), so I kind of lost motivation to do legal for a bit. However, that was kind of brought back up when I got the trial exam back, in which I did surprisingly well (one off an A+), even though I was not ready for it at all. Over SWOTVAC, I just basically tried remembering content and getting that engrained, as well as doing a couple of practice questions. I plan to do exams after my eco exam tomorrow.

Accounting: So the performance evaluation SAC wasn't too bad, nor was it that great. I have a feeling our teacher marked a bit too harshly, but oh well, it's good practice for the exam. We also had our budgeting SAC, which I plan on getting after my eco exam tomorrow. I think I did pretty well on that, considering I got my balance sheet to balance on the first few tries (and some people couldn't get theirs to balance at all). We also got the trial exam back, in which I did decently, but could have done better if I didn't make stupid mistakes, so I'm confident about the actual exam for this. I'll start full fledged on this once eco is done tomorrow.

Economics: We got the trial exam back, and I was a bit disappointed given I spent the most time studying for this exam (albeit my score was decent). The only year 11 in our cohort (who's in our class), got the highest score on the trial exam, so our teacher decided to give him the economics prize at speech night. I was a bit saddened, and that kinda demoralised me from doing eco the day that got announced. But, I've worked really hard over the year at this generally, and am quite confident in my ability for tomorrow. Hopefully, I can ace it (given I don't rush and make stupid mistakes like always).

Methods: Yeah, so like always, the probability SAC we got back wasn't the greatest, so I won't talk about it. I didn't perform well for the trial exam either. But, I've been working through this since the term 3 holidays, and was pretty happy with my performance, since I've been usually getting A's for tech free and (sometimes) tech active for the past VCAA papers. I'll focus more on this once eco is done tomorrow.

Eng Lang: We got our trial exam back, which was absolutely horrific, as the average for the cohort was around 50%. I think this may have been partly due to the examiner our school used not being an Eng Lang teacher (just a thought). Because of that, I didn't feel the trial exam was really useful because I didn't get proper feedback which I could implement in the exam. But good news, I was quite happy with how I went on the final SAC. If I can write an essay similar to that on the exam, I'm sure I'll do really well. I've just been waiting for my teacher to get back to me with feedback on essay's I submitted to him, so I'll start focusing more on Eng Lang after eco is done tomorrow as well.

Even though my last exam was almost a month ago, and results are out in 2 days, I guess better late than never! I've finally finished school, woohoo. I'm quite happy that I still have around 2 and a half months of not having to do anything. But this last month has gone in a blur. I haven't even realised it's been almost a month since my last exam, because I can still feel like I just did it last week. I'm anxious about results on Friday, because I don't think I went the best in most my exams, but nonetheless I'm hoping I can get the score I need for the course I want to do. I'll talk about individual exams today, and then depending on how depressed or happy I am, I'll make another post on Friday (and be on time).

Economics:This wasn't too bad, I think I screwed up a bit in the last few questions because I wrote about something about the ageing population in a question asking about immigration. I also screwed up like the most easiest question which asked to draw an expansion in supply, and I had a freeze so II just drew an arrow which pointed up the curve. There was a weird question, the 8 marker, which I only had a page and a quarter response for (instead of the 2 pages provided). In all the past exams, this kind of question was only a 6 marker at max. Other than that, I think I did decently.

Methods: I was quite content with how I went for exam 1, since, I got most of the questions. I was actually confident I could get a 40+ if I performed as well in exam 2 as I did in exam 1. But no, that wasn't how the story was going to go. I choked quite a few MC's in exam 2 because I speedily did the question and didn't fully read it. I didn't know how to do a few of the extended response questions, especially the last few pages, so I'm not too optimistic about Friday.

Accounting: Surprisingly, there wasn't a lot of theory in this exam. But, in saying that, the paper was really long (imo). As a result, I had to rush through a few questions, especially the Cash Flow Statement. As a result, I made a silly mistake in that by not including the Prepaid Advertising, which meant I was off by $1k. I made a few other mistakes which I realised after the exam, but hopefully I did better than I think.

Legal Studies: When I was flicking through the exam in reading time, I thought the exam wasn't too bad. I was wrong when I actually looked at it in depth when doing the questions. I was really surprised and disappointed we weren't asked much on case studies, since I had learnt quite a few in depth. Instead, we got a lot of scenarios (looking at you tanning beds) which didn't really require too much thought with case studies. I also did really poorly on the 10 marker, as I didn't write about alternative methods of suggesting law reform, so I think I only got 5 or 6 out of 10 max for it.

English Language: This was by far my worst exam, which sucks because it's the most important one. I got stuck on one of the questions for short answer, so I left half of that question to do later. I felt like my AC was decent, probably could have talked about a few more things thinking back on it. However, I did the worst in the essay. I chose question 9 but misinterpreted it, so I talked about generic identity as opposed to what the question asked. I also mismanaged my time, because I thought I had 15 minutes more than we actually had. As a result, I couldn't finish the conclusion for my essay, and didn't get to complete half the short answer question I left. I'm really disappointed with how I went on this.

Today was the day. I was quite anxious, and as a result got up a good few hours before I normally do on a holiday. When I logged onto the site, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I somehow managed to get 50 for Eco. I was ecstatic and literally jumping up and down. Also, I feel like I underestimate how I do quite a bit, because I like to prepare for the worst (since I thought I'd get 46 for eco, and 41 for accounting) So, these are the total scores I got (not including scaling here):

- Economics: 50
- Accounting: 46
- Legal: 42
- Eng Lang: 36 (Big rip)
- Methods: 37
- Psychology: 45 (from last year)

which worked to give an ATAR of 98.4

I'm a bit confounded by the Eng Lang score, because I got a C+ on the exam (even though I thought I would get B at the very least), but still not a terrible study score. I was quite surprised by accounting and was totally not expecting to do this well. Legal I was expecting about this much, but could have done tons better if I didn't choke the extended response part. Methods was also somewhat expected given my poor performance in exam 2. Nonetheless, I'm really, really happy since I should get into my first preference of Comm/Law at both Monash and ANU. Now, the question I have to answer is where I want to go out of the two (which I will decide at a later stage).

Well, it's been a great year. Even though the year had a few ups and downs, ultimately, in the end I'm confident I gave it my best shot and as result got what I wanted. Thank you to everyone who followed my journey and allowed me to rant about (sometimes) random issues. Hope you guys achieved what you wanted this year, and good luck for next year!
