What counts as an intellectual discovery?

Intellect pertains to the faculty of reasoning. I think too often we see intellect as intelligence, when it's not always the case. So an intellectual discovery could be about the way someone reasons with something differently with a changed perspective.

Does this make sense? :)

new understandings, new perspectives, seeing the world/yourself/others in a new light u guess:)
