THE AN AWARDS - 2017

Yep, they're back! An annual tradition since 2013, the AN Awards are returning again for 2017!! Essentially, the AN Awards are just a bit of fun and designed to give some recognition to some of the members who have stood out in some way for you this year. Nominating someone is one way you can say thanks, you could very well make someone's day!

There will be three categories of nominations:
- NSW Academic, recognising those who have helped out in various subject boards in NSW
- VIC Academic, recognising those who have helped out in various subject boards in Victoria
- Personality Awards, recognising those who contribute in the General Discussion section, and just by being awesome people.

Note: National Moderators/Admins are ineligible for the Academic Awards, but are eligible for the personality awards. State mods are eligible for everything ;D

How it Works: The award categories are below. Anyone can nominate one user per category by posting below in this thread following the template below. Nominations will be open for a couple of weeks - Note that you can nominate for any of the categories you like (EG - NSW users can nominate for VIC awards if they want to!). You can nominate the same person for multiple awards, but you can't nominate yourself.

We'll tally the nominations as you go and then set up a voting form when they close!

Exciting! This year has been so incredible in terms of student participation, helping each other out, and working together. There are so many deserving members for each award <3 Imma use this thread as a bit of a shoutout thread as well and explain my picks, so I just get an excuse to explain how awesome you guys are <3

My nominations are;

- NSW MVP --> Fantasticbeasts3000. They help across so many sections, providing humour and support wherever they go! Though they provide tonnes of academic help for many of their subjects, they also contribute/create many interesting general discussion/humour threads as well!

- NSW MVP (Class of 2017) --> Beatroot. They are a big reason that the Society and Culture and Visual Arts threads are growing in activity. Furthermore, they have written some fantastic guides while doing their own HSC, which will have helped this years students and beyond!

- Most helpful in NSW Maths boards --> RuiAce. Pretty self explanatory. I don't even venture into the Maths boards very often (only to answer the odd 4u question here and there ;) ), but there is no doubt that Rui has provided some incredible help across all of the maths threads.

- Most helpful in NSW Humanities boards--> Katie,rinos This one was a super tough pick, just because there are so many humanities subjects, and each one has a core group of super helpful students. I'm going with Katie,rinos for my nominations, as she has been so super helpful in both the Ancient and History Extension threads - two threads that at the start of the year were next to inactive. Their helpful, positive replies to questions are breathing life into those sections of the forums <3 Honourable mentions to; Dancingphalanges, Fantasticbeasts3000, Rodero :) If I could nominate all of you I would!

- VIC awards --> Not been on enough to really make a call, and even though their is no humanities award, just wanted to say that if their was, K888 would 100% get my nomination, after spending hours helping the History: Revolutions students before their exam, even though she had an important exam the next day as well! My history sister <3

-Funniest member --> (painful to write this but) Calebark. This is a pity nomination nothing more. Wouldn't be a challenge if I were the only one nominated (someone better nominate me or this will be embarrassing, please, help me stand up against the establishment)
- Most insightful/wise member --> elysepopplewell Proof = any thread started by elyse ever. 
- Most supportive/motivating member --> ~BK~ Just take a scroll through their posts and you'll notice a lot of happy (and colourful aha) posts wishing congratulations/good luck/shout outs or otherwise. Such a cheerful, happy presence around the forums  ;D
- Best in Forum Games/General Discussion --> insanipi. I'm not on forum games much at all, however I know how much effort insanipi puts in to keeping it up to date, active and fun :)
- Scariest Mod or Admin --> RuiAce The red font is truely terrifying.

From VIC, i'm going with insanipi. She may seem nice, but behind the screen she is one scary person ;P. She is probably plotting my demise as I speak... :(

IRC: flaws. lets be real this deserves a category as well 8). It might boost people going on IRC as well.

MY NOMINATIONS~

- NSW MVP: Jess1113 I literally see Jess in every HSC thread on the site. Whether that'd be in the UAC discussion thread, the maths thread, english standard thread (#throwback to when I was a newbie on the site and she took time to teach me all of Douglas Stewart's poems) or in the science threads, she's always there. I swear one time, she even took time to answer questions in the VCE maths threads! AMAZING !!!!
- NSW MVP (Class of 2017): fantasticbeasts3 fantasticbeasts3 is an amazing and precious member of atarnotes. I always read their posts in a really cheery voice because I feel that fantasticbeasts3 genuinely enjoys helping out other people and shows great enthusiasm. They've been especially a great addition to the modern history threads alongside sudodds ;)
- Most helpful in NSW Maths boards: RuiAce no doubt absolute madman... whether it'd be in the 2u, 3u and the 4u threads, he's always there. Everytime a question is asked, Rui comes outta nowhere with his brains and answers every question!!!
- Most helpful in NSW Science boards: Jess113, MisterNeo and blasonduo I honestly couldn't pick between these three members seeing that I always see them participate in the Bio, Chem and Physics threads on the site. I don't do any science courses, so seeing these three individuals show their science knowledge on the site, even the most complex formulas or explanations, amazes me. They're definitely the iconic trio of the science forms. Keep up the good works guys!!
- Most helpful in NSW Humanities boards: Katie,rinos and sudodds Humanities has a huge range of subjects so this was really hard to pick but I've seen katie,rinos and sudodds in the modern, ancient and ext. threads helping all the history students. All questions regarding their subjects have all been answered by this iconic duo.

- Funniest member: sudodds hands down
- Most insightful/wise member: elysepopplewell no doubt. Every thread and article she's written has actually inspired me.
- Most supportive/motivating member: K888 for sure!! I see them posting across the site a lot and even looking at their dp puts a smile to my face

- Best Journal: fantasticbeasts3!! Each entry is sooo descriptive and so insightful!!

Thanks heaps for the nominations guys!! I really want to add a few to the NSW academic section. They might fly under the radar sometimes, but I feel their contributions are well deserving of a nomination ;D

Most Insightful/Wise Member: Peterpiper 😊 (although EEEEEEP posts about almost finishing university, not sure what to do after and lacking motivation is one of the most honest things I’ve read on AN)
Most Supportive/Motivating Member: She hasn’t got a shout out yet but Tashhhaaa has been great at being the most non-judgemental and genuine person on the internet. Also Sine as he empathised with students in stressful situations with the school and teachers, even if they just wanted to rant :p
Best in General Discussion/Forum Games: Vox nihili, thanks for giving your insightful views on political and societal issues
