Title: Lit SAC Marks and what I can reasonably expect?
Post by: Nitroanarchygirl on October 17, 2009, 01:27:39 pm
Hi everyone! This year in Lit our school studied 'Washington Square' and 'Hamlet' as our exam texts.

My SAC marks from the year are:
-Views/Values (Washington Square) - 27/40
-Review of a review (Casablanca) - 19/20
-Adaptations (Dead Heart) - 35/40
-Creative Response (Based on 'Book of the Beach') - 57/60
-Close Reading/Analysis (Washington Square again... we could choose from WS or Hamlet) - 40/40

This brings my total to 178/200 = 89%

So, my SAC marks are a high A, if I was to get a low to mid A on the exam (80 - 85%), what does everyone think my study score could reasonably be? Estimates from past/current Literature students would be helpful!!

Thanks for your help! :)

This isn't really answering your question but...I noticed you said "our school studied these as our exam texts" - do you mean your teachers actually decided what you had to study for the exam and you couldnt choose? cos that would suck!

Yep, they only picked 2 texts that are on the exam list, so we have no choice but to do them. Kinda lame.

If 80% on exam, I'd estimate about a 35~36 raw depending on your cohort's strength. But if 85% more like 37~38.
Btw, this was from Mao's SS estimator (i played around with it awhile ago and remember putting in similar scores ^^)

With the literature exam last year, an 85% got you an A+.

If the percentage you quoted is correct and you think you'll get 80-85%, i think you will get something like 37-39, perhaps even 40 if you got an A+.

If you think you will get low to mid A, then probably 35-37.

Oh yeah, I forgot to have a fiddle with the SS estimator. I tried it out a while back for other subjects. Well, that's good, because I'm expecting my marks to drop a bit in the pressure of the exam, so I'm aiming for 80%+ :) I'd be happy with 35 or 36.

That's interesting - I wouldn't have thought the average or whatever would be so low that A+ was 85%! That's something to work towards then because if it's the same this year one of the "top" marks is reasonably achieveable - I hope!! ;)

Thanks for the help!!

Out of interest, what did you end up getting on the exam (out of 80) to get a 42? I assume it was an A+...?
