I reckon I sleep on the floor about three times per week. I'm not really sure why - it must be more comfortable at some points.
How about you?
-
I always whisper 'bless me' to myself after a sneeze. Every time, even if others bless me. Not sure why, but I thought this was standard until somebody said it was odd

I can identify quite a fair few songs within seconds.
I also have a knack of being able to be smiling 99.9% of the time. 😄

This might call for an "obscure skills" thread!

It might! :P
Let's see how this one pans out first ;)

I can twist my hand 360 degrees; it creeps ppl out and funny thing is, I saw it on a magic show, tried it and did it, so it's not really magic

How do you mean? I'm struggling to conceptualise this haha.

For some reason I'm flexible, i.e. I can do the splits and the bridge, and I've never had any formal training in dancing or gymnastics. Another strange physical-related thing I can do is that I can plank up to 8 minutes. Again, never stepped my foot in the gym or had a personal trainer (and I still have some tummy flab lmao).
Also, is it just me or does anyone enjoy eating ice cream/cold beverages in winter and hot beverages in summer? My mum gives me weird looks but I think it's normal...

ice cream/cold beverages in winter yes
hot beverages in summer no :/

It is physically impossible for me to bend my thumb back beyond vertical (like my thumbprint is, at best, perfectly aligned with the rest of my thumb) and it pisses me off

Big yes for ice-cream in winter. Family dinner at my place nearly always involve ice-cream for dessert. Big fan ^-^

I just realised - whenever I hiccup by accident I always say "woo, sorry" immediately after as an instinctual reaction, even if there's no-one there.
-
I can invert the middle joint of my left pinky-finger, and often do so in times of stress...
-
For a long time, I could bend my left pinky all the way back so that it was touching the top of my hand (so like, basically a full 180 degrees).
Now, I can only get it to 90 degrees. I think I probably lost the ability when I was about 16.

Holy shit.
Consider a Z-lite .
My thing: I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Not that strange or unusual, just thought I'd take the cheeky chance to plug the sport. Great for your mental and physical health, and always great to learn an *effective* martial art!

I look up research about geomagnetic navigation in sea turtles in my spare time. Especially interesting when the research relates to the development of that ability.

turtles
to the surprise of no one ;)

I've walked the Pennine Way. By the end of it it feels normal walking 15 miles in a day - but I'm pretty sure it's not normal...
-
Not entirely sure if this is normal or not...
Over the last few months I’ve always had a song playing in the back of my head, not like the lyrics being stuck in my head, it’s more like hearing music from far away. It’s more the beat than the lyrics, it’s sort of just always there. It’s actually come really distracting because it’s hard to focus on what I’m supposed to be doing when I’m too busy trying to listen to whatever song is in my head
I think it’s probably because I’ve been listening to music almost constantly lately. Even through most of my classes I’m allowed to have at least one headphone in (it’s just fish and outdoor Ed when I don’t listen to music).
Should probably cut back on the music because I can’t have music in exams and it’s gonna be hard to focus without it haha
I can’t really tell whether things I do aren’t strange - I tend to just assume it’s normal until someone points it out.
Oh actually I just thought of something! I don’t really have time for it these days, but I used to listen to songs to memorise things. Like I know about 25 numbers of Pi and I can sing the alphabet backwards because I went looking for songs to help me memorise them lol
Also @insanipi I’m pretty good at identifying songs a second in too! Although only if it’s music I listen to (or the pop songs I hear at work haha)

I realise now, while I'm listening to Hannah Montana on Spotify at the moment-
I always always listen to Disney songs when I'm stressed about something. It never fully hits me that I've got a deadline due until I go on a Disney song marathon- especially High School Musical songs.
As I am listening to Hannah Montana, it hits me that I have three film shoots in 1.5 weeks ahhhhhh

I just kinda remembered this...
Whenever I am on an excursion or something, or in a strange place, I start planning how to escape from different things.
Like, if I am in a Bus, I start analyzing the various merits of different emergency exits in response to different types of emergencies.
Does anyone else do this?

Yep I do this haha. Makes me uncomfortable when there isn't an easy way out

Yep.
I also analyse things like how a crowd might respond to if there was an emergency
(Interesting fact: In an emergency situation, people will leave a room quicker if the exit is in the corner of a room rather than the middle of a wall (assuming same exit size, number of people etc))

All my friends think it's weird that I eat yoghurt on my toast. I don't think it's that weird, it's sort of just milky jam! ;D
Btw you should try it if you haven't, it tastes good.

I'll try it and get back to you!
You might like drinking ayran! Equal parts yoghurt and water, pinch of salt
Update: yeah sorry that's weird :D

no offense... but the thought of that makes me wanna barf! :o :-\
I always think a number if someone says a colour (or vice-versa) (eg. white=1, yellow=2, green=3, orange=4, red=5, pink=6, purple=7, blue=8, brown=9, black=10) also - the colours of the numbers which equal up to 10 are usually complementary! I don't know if this makes any sense/ anyone else does it? ??? :-\

Wow... yeh! Turns out I'm a synesthete! :o

Sometimes when I count I go: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and then after 9 I start from 1 again.
-
I have a really awful sense of direction, and I manage to get lost, even using google maps. It took me 35 minutes to get from Melbourne Central station to the last lot of AN lectures (you wish I was joking). But, when I'm going the wrong way, I refuse to turn around and go back the way I came, I always just keep walking until I get to somewhere where I can turn down another street. I would rather walk all the way around a block then turn around.

How often are the smiles real?
