Title: Subject Selection Dilemma
Post by: Tiffany 17 on September 20, 2018, 03:17:04 pm
Been told that my 3/4 T&T clashes with my 1/2 Economics, what should I do? I want to go on to do something business-related and have the option to do BusMan 3/4 or Further 3/4. If I pick Further 3/4 I will be doing two maths inc. Methods 1/2, and if I choose BusMan 3/4 I have to pick an additional 1/2 (which I have a 99% chance of continuing in yr 12) to replace BusMan 1/2.

Hey there Tiffany!

What are the subjects you're definitely going to take? For a business-related course, the only real requirements for most university courses are Methods (often 25 raw SS) and English or equivalent (30 SS is the highest I've seen). Note that these are typically commerce courses.
The three main things you should be looking towards are:
1. Do you enjoy the subject?
2. Is it a prerequisite for uni? (Already discussed this above, but check out VTAC Course Search for help for other courses.)
3. Are you good at the subject?
Focus on the first two points there mostly. Also, have a think about a back up area in case you change your mind later (just in case).
Have a look at the study design of these subjects to assess how much you'd like them.

Just a quick note re: bio. They won’t force you to do dissections - it’s completely fine to sit them out. I can’t remember if I even did a dissection for 1/2 bio - I definitely didn’t do any for 3/4.
