HEYY
what would the cut off for band 6 be around this yr?
any predictions
-
Hey! Based on 2016 data, I'd expect it to be hovering around the very low 80's ;D
-
what if the internal is good? but the hsc is stuffed

What do you mean "the cut off". I'm confused. Isn't it just a case of if you get 90-100 you get a band 6 and that's it.

A band 6 is a final HSC mark of 90-100, as you have already mentioned. :)
ishhhyyyaaa was referring to the raw exam mark that equates to a final band 6 mark. NESA does their usual wizardry to turn the raw exam marks into the official exam mark that we end up receiving, and then averaged with the moderated assessment mark to determine the overall HSC mark, which provides the band. Hope this makes sense!

how about a band 5?

Maybe ~65 to ~80 raw... :)

when you say 65-80 raw, do you mean what you actually got on the day? or do you mean after they scale the paper 65-80 then they moderate it and stuff?

What you got on the day, before any sort of scaling/moderation is taken into account.
And since its for English, it would be a %, not just a 'mark' as such, since the 2 exams add up to a total of 105. :)

I'm not sure if you would know this, but would you happen to have an estimate of what raw mark you would need to get a band 6 in Standard english. I came first in internals. I think I went okay in externals but not amazing. I know it's notoriously hard to achieve a band 6 in standard though :-\

Hi...
Here's some raw vs aligned mark data for standard if you're interested. From this data, it's a little bit hard to tell what would make a band 6, but going from advanced & standard being semi on the same scale, perhaps somewhere in between 83-88? Not entirely sure...
