You're probably best off buying as big a notebook as possible - it's a pain to have to filter through multiple notebooks for your notes.

I had two separate 120 page notebooks. One for U3 and one for U4. I preferred having them separate because it meant I didn't have to carry around massive notebooks the whole year. I filled the U3 one, but I only half filled the U4 one, although that was mostly because my teacher gave us heaps of handouts.

For me 128 pages would be fine, but it depends on what you intend to use the book for and how compact you'll make it

Your best guess is probably to go from how many pages you've used for subjects in the past :)

I personally prefer to use ring binders because I like being able to take notes out to re-do them or add extra notes into places later (when I am doing revision). Also, a ring binder means you can just keep adding the loose leaf and not worry about multiple books.
On the downside though, they are a lot bigger to carry around with you which means if you have a full schedule of classes and you need to bring textbooks and ring binders, It is sometimes a struggle to fit everything in a bag.

For psych this year I used a 200-page notebook which definitely fit all my notes (and I took a lot of notes). I also had a book full of plastic pockets that I put any handouts in, and this was useful as I could keep these handouts separate to my notes.

For bio last year I just used one notebook (possibly 128 pages, I can't really remember, but I didn't take as many notes).

I really think it depends on how much you're planning on writing, how you plan on studying for SACs, and whether you'll take notes online or on paper. :)
