Title: 3/4 Bio without 1/2?
Post by: Asphodel on November 21, 2018, 03:30:20 pm
Hey guys, I'm currently in year 11 taking a bunch of commerce subjects for VCE but I'm worried about my lack of science subjects reducing options in University due to prerequisites.
My question is: is it possible/realistic to do well in 3/4 Bio without having taken the 1/2 component of the subject?

Thanks  ;D

Yes, this is perfectly fine. In fact, the majority of students who take Biology are in Year 11, so they did not complete units 1 & 2

In 3/4 Bio, you will repeat stuff from 1/2, so you should be more than fine. 3/4 Bio is quite different from 1/2 anyway.

You won't have to worry about being behind those that did 1/2. In 3/4, everyone is pretty much on the same page.

I agree with the above. It's a pity to miss out on 1/2, particularly because the genetics content is now a part of it and not year 12 bio; however, you won't be disadvantaged particularly by not having done 1/2.
