C: Protein modification
D: Site of aerobic respiration

Which substances will be able to diffuse through a phospholipid bilayer?
A: oxygen and carbon dioxide
B: glucose
C: all of the above
D: none of the options

Eukaryotic cells make up …
A: Plants
B: People
C: Both
D: Neither

Which of the following means “out” ?
A: Exo
B: Endo
C: Both
D: Neither

Pinocytosis can be described as …
A) a cell “eating”
B) a cell “drinking”
C) a cell excreting
D) a cell pinning stuff up

rRNA…
A) does not exist
B) is respiratory RNA
C) is rough RNA
D) is ribosomal RNA

The phosphate head of a phospholipid is
A) non-existent
B) nonpolar and hydrophilic
C) polar and hydrophilic
D) nonpolar and hydrophobic

tRNA is
A) transport RNA
B) transfer RNA
C) t-rex RNA
D) transplant RNA

The function of cholesterol in plasma membranes is:
A) to clog your arteries
B) to maintain the fluidity of the plasma membrane
C) to allow simple diffusion
D) to block movement of sugars

If a cell is isotonic to its surroundings
A) no movement will occur across the plasma membrane
B) the concentration of everything in the cell is equal to the extracellular concentrations
C) the amount of water in the cell will stay fairly constant
D) the cell will become turgid

In a hypotonic cell the intracellular concentration of water is
A) high compared to the cell’s surroundings
B) low compared to the cell’s surroundings
C) equal to the cell’s surroundings
D) no one can say for sure, not even Vox or PF

If you have to guess in bio, pick an answer that:
A) is spelt incorrectly
B) doesn’t contain absolute statements such as “always”
C) feels right
D) has absolute statements such as “never”

Experiments should:
A) have controlled variables

C) be written in the first-person
D) always support the hypothesis

Eukaryotic cells:
A) Are always nucleated (always have a nucleus)
B) Are usually smaller than prokaryotic cells
C) Are unchanging
D) Change in response to stimuli

If information could passively move from a textbook (high concentration) to a students brain (low concentration) across a semi-permeable membrane, this would be an example of:
A) osmosis
B) active transport
C) sleeping
D) diffusion

answers to questions that tricked people
VCAA does not allow powerhouse of the cell as the proper option - people have lost points for this in the past

Red blood cells (RBCs) are NOT nucleated

In a hypotonic cell concentration of solutes is low and concentration of water is high

In an isotonic cell there is movement of water across the membrane, just no NET movement

osmosis is diffusion  of water - you would not describe the movement of any other substance as being osmosis

That's alright, you got almost everything correct so you're allowed to have some leeway :)

Thanks mini!
That was great!

I wound't worry about them - they aren't important.

I genuinely got tricked by a couple, but got one of them wrong becuase I was looking at the wrong question info. uhh... I mean I actually got them wrong on purpose because mini said that I wasn't allowed to win
