It depends on supply and demand.  If a lot of people apply for it and get high ENTERs, then expect the Clearly-in to increase substantially.  If, however, not many people apply for it and the academic achievement of the applicants is lower than last year's, then the Clearly-in will drop.

It all depends on supply and demand, that is, how many places available, how many applicants and their VCE results.

Do people predict that the Melbourne Model will reduce demand or increase it? I'm leaning towards the former since a lot of people are bitching and moaning about it.

Would work out perfect for me ;)

It probably would stay the same as last year. Melbourne model's been there since 2007, full fee was scraped in 2008, I don't recall anything that would affect 2009 (as in for you guys starting in 2010) entrance scores.

I reckon most courses should stay the same too but apparently commerce went from:

1.  95.6 in 2007 to
2.  95.2 in 2008

Although you could argue that's not much of a change, I'm sure there would be some people on this forum whose lives would have changed had the Clearly-in not dropped.  :)

Ahh right, I guess that's heaps if we assume there's ~20-30 people per 0.05.

Biomed's ENTER would have risen this year, but they accepted more people compared to last year and so the ENTER stayed at 95.

Really?  I've noticed it has stayed the same but I didn't know they accepted more people.  Is that because they didn't want the ENTER to rise more than 95 or was it just that the course provided more placements for the sake of demand?

I'm not to sure to be honest. Perhaps a bit of both! I know that they were very tight about the 95 cutoff. My mate got an ENTER of 94.95 and did not get into biomed (doing science instead).

Really?  Damn.  But they only missed out by 0.05...

But at least with Biomed, it's stayed at 95 for the past 2 years whereas we've got no idea what's going to happen to commerce.

Yeah i know...it is pretty disappointing but unfortunately, they have to draw the line somewhere because if they let him in then someone with 94.90 would be asking why they should only just miss out and so on.

Yeah i was very nervous that the ENTER would rise above 95, thankfully it didn't. If it had of been 95.50, then i would be at Monash!

Um, not too sure to be honest. I think he just preferred to do science at Melb (Monash is a fair bit further than Melbourne from where he is, so i think that might have had something to do with it).

I had monash as my second preference. On results day i got a message from then saying congrats we are offering you a $5000 scholarship. So i would have been fairly happy to go there as well!  :)

Go for what you really want!!! Don't settle for your second preference before exams or results have been released. Go for melbourne if that's what you really want, but I think Monash has a really good course also from what i have seen.

You'll have an opportunity to change anyway if you decide/find out you won't make it to Commerce at Melbourne.
