Title: What's the worst that can happen?
Post by: taylor tay bags on October 30, 2009, 05:41:50 pm
When i think of something, i believe i have done it then can't get it out of my head lol, just wondering. I'm 99% sure i didn't but if for instance you ticked box I. and wrote on II. for text response (so ticked the incorrect box) but it was completely obvious you did II... How harsh are the examiners will they mark me on the box i ticked or change it? Thanks..

Holy shit...If i ticked the wrong box...I'm going to have to call Voxi and contemplate making a movie about people in a scorching weekend and a train crash.

LMAO +1, nah I know which one I ticked,

To be honest im not sure of your question!!! That seems hard! Especially since they dont have time to compare ur piece with the question etc, or try and guess which one u were talking about
aww, im sorry, im not really alleviating your fears =S

Pretty sure I wrote the prompt on the planning side as well actually.

Can anyone offer me some solace anyway? It shouldn't matter that I wrote i) instead of ii), right?

They won't care if you didn't tick it. It's just a device that allows them to easily see what topic someone did.

Trust me.

why do we have to trust you? my english teacher who were an english exam assesor before said that if you forgot to tick the box (to indicate which question you're doing),  your english exam (for the text response) won't be marked

why do we have to true you? my english teacher who were an english exam assesor before said that if you forgot to tick the box (to indicate which question you're doing),  your English exam (for the text response) won't be marked
well that's clearly bogus. Of COURSE they would mark it....as if they'd have a script book full of hundreds of words, and FAIL that piece of writing because of a TICK. The tick is merely to make it EASIER to separate into "batches"

We don't need anybody to say otherwise...it's common sense.

ur teacher probz said that to ensure u tick it, and scare you into doing it.

i forgot to indicate hwich topic i was doing on my exam and i got a 45+ SS so it obviosuly didnt impact :)

examiners arent stupid or malevolent, theyll rly try to figure out which topic you did

I hope you're right. My problem isn't that I failed to tick either box, rather that I think I ticked the wrong one. However, I thought it was a strong essay that addressed the prompt well and therefore, it should be blatantly obvious which prompt I was responding to.

everyone, please look at the english criteria for the text response section, it has clearly stated that students must be able to demonstrated "detailed knowledge and understanding of the selected text and use appropriately in response to the TOPIC". The assessors can't be bother looking what question you're doing (if you haven't ticked the box) as they got 40,000 exams to mark and 120,000 essays to read. We have to tick the box to indicate which questions we're doing, if we don't, our english exam for the text response won't be marked as they can't be bother and we will get zero for that section.

If you're going to have a pessimistic mind of your fate/self, FINE, but the others who did the same mistake as you, I re-assure you's your essay will be marked
How is it that NINWA stated she forgot to mark and she got a high mark? Or did you just choose to ignore that evidence? That criteria is not applicable to TICKING A BOX, WTH

vinnie72, read this quote.

The examiners do not penalise you at all for not ticking the box.

I seriously doubt it.

Ninwa is a well respected moderator. She has no reason to lie.

That is absolute garbage. You obviously haven't met an assessor before or if you have he/she was just trying to scare the shit out of you.

but like when i came back to school, i asked the supervisor to tick the box for me. And they said "its too late, all the exams have been sealed. you should've done that earlier". then i said " omg! i forgot to. will i lose marks?" and that supervisor replied "from my experience, they wont mark your essay if you havent indicate to them which question you're doing"

i left the first page of one of the sections blank and started writing on the second page...i dont know how but im getting paranoid about the fact that the examiner will not mark it because they dont see it.... what are your thoughts?
Title: Re: What's the worst that can happen?
Post by: xXNovaxX on November 23, 2009, 10:09:52 pm
No no they will flick through it, trust me, and im sure the inks dent will appear on the other side.

Because the instructions are if u leave a section blank you mark it as BLANK, so as long as u didnt do that ur fine,

Dont worry!

and a note to everyone, EXAMINERS ARE NOT COMPUTERS/ROBOTS. They have thoughts and feeling, and know to look over pages, make sure u rote something, they know how to decipher stuff, even if u didnt tick the question etc!!!

The examiners are told to check EVERY SINGLE PAGE in the answer booklets.  Even the bits at the back after your essay.
