Hi guys! so for the study design dot point related to 'implications for health and well being relating to world trade and tourism' do we need to know the positives as well (ie: how it promotes health) ? the text book lists both the positives and negatives yet the study design states to know only the implications for health and well being
I'm a little confused :/
Many thanks :))

Hey,
This is what I learnt for this dot point.
World trade is the exchange of goods and services between countries
Positive for low and middle income countires
Increases employment, which can lead to improved living conditions
Negatives for low and middle income countires
Possible exploitation of workers especially for women and children
Environmental degradation due to over-farming and use of pesticides
Tourism travel for work or leisure, is the worlds fastest growing industry
Positive for low and middle income countires
Encourages governments to improve local infrastructure, e.g. roads and water supplies
Negatives for low and middle income countires
Environmental threats to waterways due to overuse and inadequate waste disposal
Increased risk of epidemics due to international travel
Hope this helps :)

When we studied it (in a different subject) we also talked about a loss of local culture in favour of "tourist traps" and other gimics. We also talked about the way that McDonald's has spread internationally, competing with small businesses that sell local dishes. This then removes cashflow from the society and harms the local economy, limiting their opportunities to access health and education resources.
