I don't know much about JMSS but I'd love to share my personal experience with the interview for the select-entry program at my own school...Thanks a lot. But they are asking for certificates, which I don’t have at all, and school reports, what I suck at (except for math and science tests) help!
During my personal interview, I had a hard-copy portfolio that I gave to the interviewers to aid them in asking me questions. It really helped me to feel confident and prepared for anything they might ask so I would highly recommend it for you if the school allows it. Also, be prepared to tell your interviewers why you want to go to this specific school and your personal qualities as those are standard question that are asked all the time!
We had two team tasks to complete in the group interview as well and I thought they hadn't gone very well - I was pretty quiet and we didn't complete them both in time - but it doesn't actually matter. The interviewers are only trying to see if you can interact well with others. To stand out, you could encourage others a lot and just generally be a leader even if others are very shy.

This includes any participation in extracurricular activities and anything that shows your involvement and passion in science/maths. If you don't have anything all you need to do is explain to the interviewer why not and how you would use the opportunity to study at JMSS to change that. Then talk about how your current school doesn't have programmes/facilities that JMSS does and how it would benefit you specifically.

If you don't mind me asking, did u get into JMSS? (I just wanna know ur experience of VCE at that school and what I will be missing if I don't get in).

As for VCE, it's pretty much the same as other schools except for the learning environment as expected. A smart student will succeed regardless of the school they go to.

I just heard the phrase “passion in science and maths” nothing else. I don’t think this alone can be useful.

Lol yes your last sentence is so true and is what drives me to do the interviews till date. Isn't there like a methods test if u get in? For that test, was there like topics from actual Mathematical methods, like calculus, matrices, functions etc.? Soz for being too annoying :P, since I have a low chance of getting in, I thought I might as well do a mini Methods test at home myself similar to the JMSS Methods exam.

Trying out forJMSS 2020 year 10 enrollment. I got to the interview and it’s on Aug 12th, which is ten days away. That interview is unique and distinctive, and I don’t know much about it. For people who go through the interview (whatever failed or succeed) welcome to share experiences! For who preparing like me, you are also welcome to discuss!
What time is your interview?? Mines on the same day. You are gonna do well man. I've seen your other posts and you seem very interested in science and that's what JMSS wants. You seem to be very knowledgeable and passionate. It's not exactly your fault you don't have many certificates since you haven't been here for long. Even if it's rare, I have a family friend who didn't have that much extra curricular activities as she only came to Australia about 11 months before the exam, but still managed to get in. Even I don't have much certificates. But I think your huge interest in science is gonna get you in.I got awful results except math (which is the only A I got last semester), I even got a C for science (but I got more than 80% on tests). Probably I will use “been here for a short time, can’t satisfy all the complicated standards in the IB class” as an excuse. Indeed, the formats of homework and lab reports are frustrating for me
I don't have much to support my interest in science and I'm not social and struggle to speak in groups. I'm just really mad because I came this far and I don't wanna fail. I have a lot of competition since I have two campuses as well. I don't even know man, but I think you have high chance cuz you seem so dedicated and determined. As long as you show you passion in science, which you obviously do. i think you have big big big chance.
I'm so passionate about science too but I can't really express myself well and it says I'am often late to home group and I need to improve my punctuality in both my school reports. :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ :-\ So I have a low chance, because I don't think they will want a kid that's late to school all the time.. screw public transport.
