Title: Congrats to our new mods!
Post by: Bri MT on January 09, 2020, 08:22:53 am
As you may be aware, towards the end of last year we called for new moderators and it was wonderful to see a variety of applications from amazing users. I very much hope to see reapplications as the quality of submission & contributions from applicants was fantastic and there are multiple who I could easily see as mods in the future. At the end of the application process, 3 users were chosen to be modded in this application round.

Each of these users has contributed significantly to ATAR Notes over a long period of time, and we're certain that they'll be incredible in their new roles. Each brings in their own unique style and I am sure that they will complement the contributions of pre-existing mods exceedingly well.

So - with gratitude for their many past, present, and future contributions – we now announce:

AREAS: HSC Mathematics
After joining in June 2018, fun_jirachi has posted more than 500 times, mostly in HSC Mathematics Advanced and HSC Mathematics Extension. He has already proven to be a strong contributor in HSC mathematics boards, going back through his post history it didn’t take long at all to come across detailed, clear and immensely helpful posts like: this, this, this, this and this. Contributions like these resulted in him being recognised as the runner up for NSW MVP (class of 2019). fun_jirachi also has 300+ respect, but to me, it’s the above type of posts that may not always earn much respect but are of great assistance to AN-ers that speak loudest. If you want more of a chance to see fun_jirachi’s journey up to this point feel free to check out his journal.

AREAS: VCE Biology, VCE Chemistry, VCE Psychology, VCE Physics
Erutepa joined ATAR Notes in May 2018 and also has over 500 posts (if you count forum games and casual chat it’s actually more than 4000), with more than 200 of these posts being in VCE biology. Erutepa is also a familiar face in chemistry, physics, and psychology in addition to general discussion and the community lounge. On his first day of posting, he provided an explanation of signal transduction for biology students and on his second we got to see his sense of humour at work. This would come to characterise many of Erutepa’s posts: supporting students through great science explanations and wacky jokes with uplifting humour. His many contributions resulted in Erutepa being awarded Vic MVP (class of 2019), and examples of these contributions include: this, this, this, this, this, this and this and I’m sure science students will be aware that this is only a very small snapshot of Erutepa’s contributions with another significant aspect being his supportive nature and general AN-spirit. If you want to see more of Erutepa’s journey to get here, another snapshot is available in the form of his journal.

AREAS: HSC Chemistry, HSC Science Extension, HSC Physics
And finally, we have r1ckworthy! Since joining ATAR Notes on the first of January in 2019, r1ckworthy has made hundreds of posts and an almost 1:1 post respect ratio. R1ckworthy has placed a strong emphasis on supporting peers in their journey journals, general discussion, and HSC sciences. These efforts ultimately resulted in r1ckworthy being voted as NSW MVP (class of 2019).  For examples of r1ckworthy’s contributions see here, see here, see here, and finally see here. One thing that stood out to me when I was reading r1ckworthy’s posts is how focused he is on community building including interstate and on his clear willingness to search for answers to help others. If you want to see more of how r1ckworthy got to be here, feel free to check out his journal.

Please join us in welcoming our three newest State Moderators: fun_jirachi, Erutepa, and r1ckworthy!
