Hello,
I am thinking of doing the following subjects in vce:
Specialist Maths, Maths Methods, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English Language.
Will this be too much to handle (i think it will)? Any advice from people who have done this lineup or similar?

If you do all six in year 12, I'd say that it would be quite challenging. My recommendation would be to complete both Methods & Biology in Year 11 (if you're not allowed, then at least one) so you only have five subjects in year 12. Otherwise, you should be fine.

My school didn't offer spec so where you have that I did psych, otherwise it was the same. I echo Darkz advice to complete at least one of these in year 11 if possible. Imo the easiest subject (out of those you've listed) to pick up 3/4 without 1/2 is bio so that would be my recommendation.
Doing lots of similar subjects has the advantage that there is crossover in the sciences & maths which can help you as long as you don't get complacent about it.
Good luck!

I am doing units 1 and 2 methods in year 10. I want to do 3/4 in year 11.

Great! Do you know if you'll want to or be able to pick up bio 3/4 for next year as well?

that selection of subjects is most commonly referred to the old asian five (new one involves replacing bio for a language) and is a very common selection of subjects, so its pretty doable but it really depends on you

Negative. I am not doing bio 1/2 this year :(

That's alright; your school might let you pick up bio without having done 1/2 but imo having one subject early will help significantly regardless.

I did bio and methods in year 11, doing spesh, chem, English and further in year 12. Personally, I think if you are doing 5 subjects in year 12, it's going to be really difficult; especially that I'm barely balancing four despite my slightly easier subjects. But, most of this depends on your work ethic, if you can maintain being motivated and is a very self-disciplined person, I've seen people who have managed to balance 5 difficult subjects in year 12.
