Did 2020 methods exam today and found it reasonably difficult, especially in comparison to all the past vcaa exam 1s I had done. Just wondering if anyone else also found it to be harder than previous years, and what a rough predicted A+ mark would be.

Definitely way harder - even than last year's which is hard enough already. Last year's cut off was like a 33.5/40, this year might be like 32 - but it all depends on how hard it REALLY was if you know what I mean

yep defs harder than 2019 or the years before. I reckon A+ will be around 30-31, given that last year's cut off was 33.5. Regardless, well done on today and lets focus on exam 2 tmrw!

why'd VCAA have to make it harder. I heard states like WA got extremely easy exams and Victoria had a lot more disruptions. What exam 1 score would you need to get a 47 study score (sac scores>95), assuming you get 95+ for exam 2.
-
Definitely was a lot harder, the only really straightforward questions IMO were the diff ones and the first part of the inverse question. A lot of my problems stemmed from having to have an answer in a specific form, but again I think the A+ cutoff will definitely be lower which is a bonus as I think I can scrape into it 🤞

Are the chances of Exam 2 being easier slim? I don't want to get my hopes up

Past years tend to have similar difficulty exam 1 and 2's. However exam 2s maybe slightly easier depending how good you are with your cas.

To answer the question - No, I don't, but it was just different. It reminded me of the 2017 NHT exam 1, really.
It felt like there was more work to do to get each mark. I ran out of time to do the last five or so marks :-\ which has never happened to me before in practise exams.
In some ways I felt it was easier, although more time-consuming. Most of the questions were pretty straightforward and some of them were exactly what I studied beforehand.
(I still don't think I did very well, but I enjoyed the exam anyhow. It was good fun.)

Conceptually, it was not any more difficult. But it was very time pressured and the algebra required was horrid imo.

This! The multiplication and algebra I did by hand was insane. The examiner is going to have fun seeing all my multiplication scribbled in the free spaces 😂

check out a youtube channel called "worm's maths academey", if you want to know the answers to 2020 methods exam 1.

Agreed. None of the questions were especially hard or would have been unfamiliar compared to previous exams. But there were lots of 1 mark / 2 mark bits and pieces questions, which made it time-consuming. And there were very few easy marks.

Ok,
Who found exam 2 to be also harder than standard vcaa exam?

Not really. They're all hard.
It was fun, even though I don't think I did some things correctly - thinking back to it, I definitely did quite a lot incorrectly. But still. It was fun.

If everyone found it harder, lower scores will do better. Anyway, you don't need to worry about it (easy to say!! and hard to do!) because you can't change the scores you got, you presumably did your best, and it's another exam down and closer to the end!! :)

You always seem wayyyyyy too content with life. How do you just not hate the world so much I find it strange. It’s not a bad thing though! It means you probably enjoy being alive a lot more.
Anyway IM SCARED WHY IS EVERYONE SAYING EXAM 2 WAS EASY???? I’m so deflated.

They're not saying it was easy... right?! 'Cause it wasn't...!

'And the peace that passeth all understanding...' :) (I know I haven't always got it, but still. :))) 'I have learned in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content....' (If you don't know where these quotes are from, they're from the Bible. They just occurred to me when seeing that comment.)
Also- I genuinely enjoy doing stuff I've studied, often, if I feel confident enough with it; and Methods, though I'm not confident, I do enjoy as just - well, Maths is a really interesting subject. Same with English.

Nah they're not saying it's 'easy' - it's just that since everyone found it so hard people don't feel too bad about it
