Title: Fundemental of Chem vs Chem 1
Post by: Ionic Doc on January 22, 2021, 10:05:51 pm
Hey guys, so I'm in a bit of a dilemma on basically deciding whether I should enrol in fundamentals of chem or chem 1. I didn't do
too great in VCE chem so I am a bit hesitant in jumping into chem 1, but I've got peers from my school who have scored lower than me in VCE  chemistry jumping straight into chem 1. So basically what I'm asking is how hard is chem 1 and is fundamentals of chem worth it? thanks.

Did you get 29 or above in VCE Chem? If so, you won't be allowed to enrol in Fundamentals of Chem.

Chem 1's difficulty is really subjective so it's hard to give a clear answer, but Fundamentals of Chem is pitched at students who have not done chemistry at all in VCE. I'd recommend enrolling in Chem 1 first, then make a decision on whether or not to stay in the class before the census date.

yea I got a 28
I've taken your advice and enrolled in chem 1 and will make a decision before the census date.

Thanks  :)
