Title: Determining maximum period+ frequency of wave given two displacement time graphs

What are the steps into approaching this problem? More concerned in the method taken to approach question.
Attachment of question below as an attached image. Suggested answers are below but the textbook is kinda dodgy.

Solution Key for 3.5.2.1
Maximum period=6.4ms
Frequency=156.25

Solution Key for 3.5.2.2
Maximum period=0.33s
Frequency=3Hz

Welcome to the forums :)

Not really a huge fan of these sorts of questions :( - the period is the time required for one wavelength to pass. You can see from the first picture that roughly 5/8ths of a wavelength passes (or potentially more, 13/8ths, 21/8ths, etc. but we are asked to maximise the period, so these aren't relevant) in 4ms. So the period is 4ms divided by 5/8ths, which is 6.4ms. The frequency is the reciprocal of the period.

Similar idea applies to the second question.
