How was exam 2, some shifty questions in there
-
it was good
-
did anyone get 5pm for the last question
-
i thought it was pretty fair, just that last probability question was a bit tricky
-
did anyone get 5pm for the last question
I did
-
good stuff!
-
yeah it was pretty good. It took ages for question 4 to click...
*waits for answers to be posted up* :)
-
Yea 'shifty'.....
But I think I did well.
Waiting for the solutions to pop-up.
-
for Q3: c(i) did anyone get 0.8985, i used conditional probability
-
for Q3: c(i) did anyone get 0.8985, i used conditional probability
yeah i did :)
-
sweet, it took me 3 years to realise it was conditional

LOL, same!
I only left 2 marks empty (I.e not attempting),, but the rest I did with ease.
Finished with 8-9 minutes in hand.
-

same :)
-
finding the coordinates of m and p only clicked in my brain when there was 30 seconds left in the exam. fml
-
this exam was not bad. i hope for a low A :) .
M & P can be found using the quadratic formula :D
-
what did use do to find the standard deviation?
that question was worth 3 marks :(
hope i scabbed 1-2 out of it , couldnt get it.
tried to use z = x-u/sd but was confused with the x value ;'(
finished with about 15-20minutes left, still couldnt get about 3 of the MC... somehow didnt click into equating the very last question, gg to that 2 marks..
and yea the SD
70+ Hopefully... :-\
-
i got 0.54 somehow.... hope it is right
-
i got 0.54 somehow.... hope it is right
I got that too! :D
-
i got 0.54 somehow.... hope it is right
I got that too! :D
but how'd use get it o.0 if your talking about the SD question:\
-
i got 0.54 through trial and error and wrote bullshit working down. Come on 3/3 from a lazy examiner!

i found the corresponding z value for 63.4 (or whatever the lowest umber was) by invnrm(0.01) then used z=x-u/sd
dont know if thats right though...
-
it should have been invnorm(0.005
-
Do you think VCAA will have a bit of a copyright infringement issue using the name BBC? :P
-
yea thats what i meant lol...cause it was the middle 99%...couldnt quite remember
-
OMG DID TASMANIA JONES DIE?
-
OMG DID TASMANIA JONES DIE?
no..it was a cliffhanger...we don't even know if he rescued the statue lol
-
i got 0.54 somehow.... hope it is right
I GOT THAT TOO.
Oh my god if it's right I will be so happy.
-
OMG DID TASMANIA JONES DIE?
no..it was a cliffhanger...we don't even know if he rescued the statue lol
i know i was cut....thought i was missing a page of the exam or something lol...
-
what did people get for the minimum number of years, n?
last probability question i think.
-
lol you sure your doing the right exam?
-
someone post up the exam? I wanna see what happened to tassie jones
-
The last bit of question one I had a closed circle at x =0, so far confirming with teachers that's the only thing I lost. Add that to 1 mark off from the 1st exam so if I'm lucky that's the only stuff I lost marks on
what did people get for the minimum number of years, n?
last probability question i think.
This was in the CAS paper. I got n = 8

how gay were the multiple choice questions? tedious as.
did anyone get 2x+2 for the tangent one?
and E for the independent events one?
-

yeh i got 2x + 2, but i got A for the independent

I got A too and 2x + 2...
yeh i got 2x + 2, but i got A for the independent
-
Yep, 2x + 2 and A for independent
-
i got 0.54 somehow.... hope it is right
I'm pretty sure I got that too.

yea same here..2x + 2 and A
I got A too and 2x + 2...
yeh i got 2x + 2, but i got A for the independent
-
lol you sure your doing the right exam?
im cas, is that it?
-
for the gradient question did you get a = 81/4
-
yay i got A for the indenpendetn one also !
-
for the gradient question did you get a = 81/4
yeah i did wooo i am actually feeling better about this exam now...
-
someone post up the exam? I wanna see what happened to tassie jones
Scanning now!

i think i only lost one mark on that...
that stupid last question about t
i wrote d=t
arghhh didn't think about it or read the question properly
it should d = 14 - t shouldn't ittttttt
-
that whole last question was rubbish, i had no clue??????????

yeah.. d=14-t xD
-
Just to check, I got t= 8 on the last question, did you need to state the exact time ( I think after 9pm or something?)? ( 2 mark question)
-
It was 5pm ^
-
yeh 5pm
-
Pretty hard exam, I thought, but there were only 3 marks I left unanswered - the new standard deviation question. What did people think of the last multiple choice? I did it like 3 times and kept getting an answer that wasn't there ... what was it supposed to be?
I was getting e^3 + 3 so I ended up just circling e^3 +2
-

HAHA...exactly what I did, BUT i changed it....lol
-
So I'll lose a mark for not adding that t onto after 9 am?
-
i got 2 + e^3
-
Pretty hard exam, I thought, but there were only 3 marks I left unanswered - the new standard deviation question. WHat did people think of the last multiple choice? I did it like 3 times and kept getting an answer that wasn't there ... what was it supposed to be?
I got D but can't remember the question lol xD
-
this exam was too easy. lost about 2 or 3 marks :(
-

It was D i think.. you had to find the area of a square then the area under the log(x-1) curve..
-
I got 2 - e^3
-
So I'll lose a mark for not adding that t onto after 9 am?
yeah 1 mark gone for that :( it asked for "WHAT TIME"..
-

That's what I did but couldn't get any of the options. Oh well, if it was D then I guessed right :)
-
yeah anyone find the mulitple choice questions more confusing than extended response?
-
I transposed the equation so that it was x in terms of y then found the area between y = 0 and y = 3 using anti derivatives.
-
yeah anyone find the mulitple choice questions more confusing than extended response?
My mind went blank for the last 3.. but i got them ^^
-
can anyone remember what the second last mc was?
-
can anyone remember what the last mc was?
D definitely.
-
can anyone remember what the second last mc was?
I said B
-
What did people get for the question which asked for what is the probability that for 4 samples....1 or more tennis balls will lie outside the range?
-

I got D but can't remember the question lol xD
I was tossing up between D and C and picked C D:
When in doubt...pick...C?
Yeah, I guess I won't be using that philosophy anymore.
-

yes 2x + 2 i got :)
-

Yes!
-
We didn't have to draw a graph in Exam 1, so i was confident we would have to draw one in Exam 2 but we didnt. Strange.
-
anyone got .2km for distance between train and the rock?
-
did you have to put the mod signs for f(g(x))??
-
mod signs? oh no did i miss something?
-
anyone got .2km for distance between train and the rock?
I did.. it was like 6.2 - 6??
-
anyone got .2km for distance between train and the rock?
I did.. it was like 6.2 - 6??
OOPS
I totally forgot about that part of the question and left my answer as 6.
Oops, well, one mark gone.
-
mod signs? oh no did i miss something?
sqrt(x^2) = |x| - dunno if you needed to put mod
-
I'm not sure what the question was, but saying
is fine as long as there is an implicit understanding that you are only considering non-negative x. Maybe you'd need to explicitly state it in your answer to get the mark, I'm not too sure how VCE markers work.
-
anyone got .2km for distance between train and the rock?
but the question asked for exact so it was 1\5?
(CAS)
-
0.2 IS exact
-

AIYA! .2 is exact my friend :)

you have to put the mod sign ...
the graph would look different if you didn't (obviously)
and because sqrt of something has to be bigger than or equal to zero
that is already defined for f(x)
so when you put g(x) into it, you have to put mod around it to make it bigger than zero

lol
lol omg u serious
geez you people are good at making me feel dumb.

correct answer + excess time to check = wrong answer :'(
happened in exam 1 and 2

*waits patiently for TT's answers 8-)

you MUST put in modulus signs, it changes the entire answer for negative values of x if you don't. sqrt(x^2) is actually |x| because for instance (-1)^2 = 1 thus sqrt of 1 = 1, not -1.
because once you did that you were less tempted to do a simple derivative (alla 6x to 6....you had to fully chain rule it) so you ended up with something over root(x^2), which of course cant be zero, which satisfies the condition that x cannot equal 0.

Whoa nellies, calm down. I didn't take the exam, I was just speculating that if the function under consideration had a non-negative domain, then you could correctly say that
.
Looking at the questions now (since I only just got linked to them), it is clear that you would need the modulus signs. That, or leaving it as
.
-
what was the answer to the co-ordinates? M and P?
-
for exam 1 igot 35-36, wat score du u think i will get if i got 74-75 on exam2??
Thnx gyz
-
lol i bet like only 1% of the state put mod signs
-

yay for james :) i know youuu

I put mod signs.
Put mod signs too :)
And then the derivative was split into two parts, like a hybrid function derivative?
From talking to people many people forgot the whole mod sign thing.
-
fk
-
can anyone remember what the second last mc was?
B for me as well. How did the question go? I'll remember what it's about if you remember the question
-
i don't think modulus signs were needed in the question.
even though i still put them
because is square any number.. it would become positive.
hence the square root would always be positive. :)
-
Was an improvement from my trial exam in which i got like 4/80. Haha, might have scraped a pass. Doesn't bother me though, its my seventh subject woo.
-
Yeah I checked it on my calculator for the f(g(x)) question.
sqrt(x^2)= |x|, lets hope they don't penalise it.
Exam wasn't too bad, last questions threw me off, didn't have enough time to answer it.
-
stupid tasmania jones lol
-
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh that modulus question is worrying me :( 3 marks? does that mean if i drew the grapg wrong like the line 2x-6 or somethin i loose all 3 marks :(
