Hey guys,

Sucks to hear that. Dw about it too much! It's all over now!

I think I did alright, had enough time to read over my answers once or twice.

But, I have to say some of the multi choice made me think..

u reckon it was easier than last year?? zomg.. lol. i wish

The questions were a lot more straight forward then last years I think.
Personally, I liked the exam paper except for a couple of things.

Like...
That effectiveness question with Layout and relevance.

I didn't know what to write for the first line? I just made up some crap.
Title: Re: How did you go?
Post by: billz1508 on November 10, 2009, 05:49:10 pm
did we have to write something for first line.. it didnt ask for anything :S

Post by: johnbpj on November 10, 2009, 05:58:27 pm
I thought the exam was pretty reasonable, I answered mostly everything confidently. I think that it could possibly be easier than last years. These are my answers to the multichoice questions, i checked with my teacher and hopefully only got 2-3 wrong.
1.D, 2A, 3D, 4A, 5C (this one is wrong), 6C, 7C, 8A, 9A, 10D, 11B (this one is wrong), 12B, 13D, 14C, 15A, 16D, 17B, 18B, 19A, 20B

I could be wayy off.

But oh well, the exam is over, we all did our best

The exam was VERY average.....they put alot of questions about databases and excel, some of the M.C were crazy, WTF @ the Milestone question
Title: Re: How did you go?
Post by: codykm on November 10, 2009, 06:11:58 pm
Yeah I found that exam a lot harder then 07 and 08, was really pissed off. Some of those multiple choice question were fucked. I should get an A+ though, thats all I'm hoping.

Also, posting 'easy' is just arrogant, how would you like it if you fucked up and then someone came on here saying 'that was piss easy'

i think it was too much common sense which ended up confusing me when trying to answer, as im like no that is too easy and not relating to much to i.t... ahwell.. best of luck :)

For the milestone question in MC, isn't a milestone shown as circle on a Gantt chart?

correction: It is a diamond, and answer was C.
Title: Re: How did you go?
Post by: johnbpj on November 10, 2009, 06:35:42 pm
a milestone is shown as a diamond on a gantt chart...pretty sure the answer for that question was c, about being a stage where you can evaluate
Title: Re: How did you go?

Rohan I also did A for that one, a milestone isn't a task.

Yeah for some reason I had it in my head they were circles, so it was between A and C for me..
I'm trying to check now, if they actually are diamonds then I'm guessing that one is wrong =/

edit: aahha and it looks to be a diamond, so I guess its C then xD

Title: Re: How did you go?

i didn't join them up as it was only part of a project, not the whole project. thats also why at the start they didn't give you a bubble or anything saying 'Start'
I don't know, it was risky on my behalf coz that looks dumb, however i figured that it was only part of the project and not the whole thing, so why would there be a finish at that stage?

I wrote the letters on the line like they did.

The 'backing up since the last backup' is?

they said 'last back' does 'last back' mean last FULL backup or last INCREMENTAL backup?

I think incremental was the answer they were looking for.

Title: Re: How did you go?
Post by: warfey on November 10, 2009, 08:41:55 pm
But why incremental?
It could have been differential as much as it could've been incremental?
Nothing specified otherwise,
I pointed out the ambgiouty of the question and said "well if this means this, then the answers is this" "but if this means this, the answer is this"

I went to a lecture by Rob Mercer, the I.T. guy behind many lectures held by Swinburne and he said dont ever be afraid to question the question, as its happened many times over the years, even last years. I guess they cant mark us wrong for either one :D

Yea i got differential as well.
It didn't really specify whether the "previous backup" was full, so it leans towards incremental slightly, but still, it could go either way.

For that query one

i might have earned marks,
i rote =!pagename!cellref

( 1 extra !, cmon man markers arent that tighht are they)
Supplier = Bunny Podcasts
you prob will coz the query wont work without them
Fml. would i lose marks for not having the talkin marks

isnt it Supplier = "Bunny Podcasts"

Fml.. I wrote query= "Bunny Podcasts"

And for that referencing Q on the excel page..

I wrote =!pagenameCellref
instead of =Pagename!cellref

Lol not as bad as me. I wrote ="pagename"cellref

That's exactly right.

Another ambiguous question was the one with the IPO.

Input could be both quantity and cost, or just quantity depending on what set values are in the spreadsheet already.

i just said quantity, was scared to add both lol, i assumed cost will already be inputted

even though cost may have already been inputted, it had to inputted at one stage so for the ipo chart you should have included cost and quantity

I hope its incremental

What I don't get is that both of the reference cells were blank. So therefore they equaled eachother?
Making the IF statement false? Hence ""

Or did we have to use the summing formula from the previous multi choice?

That's what I did, as in used the values summed. Bloddy IT exams...they should be the ones studying how clarity can enhance a product!!!! Then maybe we'd know exactly what to answer more that 50% of the time.

Anyway the way I see this forum is a collection of highly motivated who really care about how they went in the subject, using a "nerdy" forum to discuss it which indicates we are all pretty IT savvy.

Based on that and the similarities in our results, despite a few people getting some right here, some wrong there, I would say we are all heading for the A, A+ region of marks for the exam, almost without a doubt.

Unless you really f***** the exam up, I'm going to say we all did well in this year's exam.

Well done everyone.

Nah, but the screen shot of the spreadsheet didn't have any values in the reference cells.
The question was referring back to the screen shot, not from manual calculations if you get what I mean..
That's my interpretation of the question.. Is that shitty logic or what..?

But you assumed that the spreadsheet was functional and with data right?

I mean why else would be analysing a information product that doesnt have the fundamental aspects of it (i.e. the income/expenses)
So, i assumed that it was with data in it. and the previous question actually discussed about the SUM Functions, so we can lean more towards a continuation than just a random empty cell - idont know, thats what i did :S

That is very true and I understand your logic.

But didn't the question refer back to the screen shot..? Not to assumed data...

I dunno.. Who cares! It's over! All the best to everyone =]. Good luck for the rest of your exams and enjoy the summer holiday! =D

like a print macro: formats and collates the data together
