On February 4th we will also be undergoing a namechange to www.vcenotes.com
For the occasion, AppleXY (Prav) has made a spiffing new logo for the site launch. I couldn't wait to show it off though so it's here now! But I am saving his (even better, imho) banner for the big event. So, yeah, kudos and many thanks to Prav!

I don't mean to offend but the logo is pretty revolting. Soz Prav, just looks like a moon and someone decided to chuck VCE NOTES on it for some strange reason.
Dan, I can ask my cousin who is a graphic designer to make one if you want (free of charge)
And I can show you some of his work thru PM if you like.
I hope the banner looks decent.

Costa, thanks but no thanks. I really like it. :) It fits in well with the layout and it has had a good reaction from everyone else, too. Sorry it isn't up to your standards.

me thinks it looks pretty cool, but it could do away with a bit more spark (the text i dnt think is subtle enough, maybe a gold emboss?)
just that its position atm looks pretty stupid on the forum at the minute..... (no offence :P )
maybe we can do a toned-down bar version?? (or that's the banner you are hiding from us???)

it looks cool, but~~~:
1. the top cresent of the circle need some gradient effects, it's too plain
2. the text is too simple, needs a touch of subtle BOOM to it
i like rays radiating outwards, but it simply doesnt fit with the current forum board, maybe it's time we added themes to the forum or find a place where the logo is better suited

Even your use of it is wrong in describing an inanimate object. "obdurate" describes a rigid person, I.E. someone who's very strongly set in their beliefs. How on earth does obdurate describe the logo? I would seriously advise you against further use of a thesaurus for VCE English to avoid this happening again.

You can sort of tell when someone doesn't have a point when they start attacking the method of delivery of a point of view.

It's not trolling. Toothpick took it upon herself to try to publically humiliate Prav. I'm doing the same to her. However, it's on a lesser scale because really the only material I've had to work with is the misuse of a word, and I don't want to be too mean, just enough so that the message gets across.

I think the emphaise of Toothpicks post would more likely be on you because you endorse the logo rather than the fact that Prav created it.

Good enough that he can make userbars, AppleXY I don't think you should be transferring that confidence over to web design elements

She wasn't trying to publically humiliate Prav, if directed at anyone it was yourself, but nice way to try and shift the onus to get people on your side.
BACK ON TOPIC I couldn't care less about the aesthetics of some stupid banner, but it's too big and I don't like having to scroll so much. cool

lol. Tooth and 1984. I saw most of the critisms. I know, I know, it isn't the best thing but hey, I have school and I want to VCENotes. Then opportunity cost came into play, meaning I couldn't take as much time as I wanted to complete this logo.

I can't say I was happy with the amount of on-screen space being used, so here is what I did about it.
I tried my own redesign of the header for myself, using GreaseMonkey for Firefox.
Here is the end result (I am sorry for manipulating your logo btw AppleXY, msg me if you want me to remove):

That looks fantastic. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to implement that, but I'll ask Daniel15 if he can try.
Re: Ads. Money will be going to me, yes. However, I anticipate the site growing large enough to need a dedicated server. I'm not going to cut costs and keep us on reseller. When the time comes, I will rent one for the site. To give you any idea how much one costs, it's usually about $150 USD per month. So, yes, ad money will be going back into the site, as well as going into my pocket because this is also a business venture. I must stress, however, that the notes will always remain free.

@ewnaibiebei: Attached are the SMF style.css and index.template.php files with that header, which is viewable here if my computer is turned on.
also you dont need a dedicated server if you get shared hosting that is reputable
but yeh i can change shit if you ever do decide that you want to change the hugeness. otherwise i will continue to greasemonkey+adblock images lol
