If VCAA/VTAC computers crashed, I would freak out even more because I'd have to wait longer and still not know.
-
BRING ON DECEMBER 11th (the day my uni results are published - well maybe)
sorry for hijacking your thread.
-
Praying that the VCAA and VTAC computers do not crash.
EDIT:
I have extra reason to anticipate the 14th....the cast comes off that afternoon :D
-
hope i get my sms earlier than 7 ;)
-
Well last year, if I remember correctly, people who registered for the SMS service didn't actually get their results at 7:00. I think there was a lag time with the servers or something.

What time did they get it?
-
None of the options really describe me LOL
I would be
-waking up 6 am
-being unable to sleep ngiht before
-checking my alarm works to wake up before hand
-have my mobile near me
-computer on
and heart pounding, and of course TISSUES NEAR BY.
If it's any consultation, i voted "holding the phone" lol.

i reckon.
-
What are the sites / things we need to access results online?
-
Go here has all info on accessing results.
The website to access them is vcaaresults.vic.edu.au which cannot be viewed yet.
You need your VTAC/VCAA student number and your PIN. Your PIN is your birthdate or if you are year 12 your VTAC PIN

Doesn't mean I wasn't tempted to just "make sure" LOL

So nervous. I read this thread and my heart started racing haha. I'll be in at Phillip Island for schoolies, so after the 14th I'll either be drinking out of happiness or drinking out of depression haha.

My VCE year, results were released on a Monday as well.
I stayed with my Mum that weekend, and we needed to leave the house by 6.30am so my brother and I could catch the train back to our Dad's... too early for me to check results before we left.
We missed the train... so my Mum drove us home.
In the car, I got so many phone calls and messages... my classmates all wanted to know what I had got.
I hadn't registered for SMS result (I didn't want to get my results that way).
One friend simply refused to believe my story and kept pressing me, excited and wanting to know.
She believed me only once I got my three siblings in the back seat to sing out "Hi Kate".
My Mum came into the house when we got there (unheard of... family tensions).
I turned on the computer at about 8.30... I looked down the bottom of the results page trying to see my ENTER... my eyes found my aggregate first... I nearly died when I saw my ENTER. I was so happy I was speechless... I was hoping against hope that I would get above 90... my goal was 92. I couldn't believe it. I told my Mum in a whisper what I had got, and she hugged me. I went and told Dad... we went out for dinner to celebrate that night.
Anywayz... I daresay my results morning was one of the more unusual... most people are probably sitting on their computers refreshing the page again and again from 6.30 onwards, or else in bed and get woken up by their results (half of them probably falling back to sleep, haha).
-
^ OMG, as I was reading ur story my heart was POUNDING! It was like a drama/cliff hanger of a book/.movie!!
Thats so cool. If I get this EXCITED over ones VCE results, jesus knows what it would be like to win the lotto.

Yup. I registered for SMS, and it didn't come through until 7:20am, but was still faster than the net. =P I was waiting for the SMS and online at the same time, and SMS came through first... the net was uber slow, if thats an incentive for those who have yet to signed up for the SMS service... :P

Wow, what an AMAZING story. :)
Your hopes are exactly like mine (getting 90+, hoping for around 92), and so if I am in the same position as you this year, I would be over the moon. *prays*

The trick is to go on about 6:30am and keep refreshing; it usually opens about 6:45, not 7 as they say. Plus the website pretty much crashes between 7 and 8.
-
Plus the website pretty much crashes between 7 and 8.
Yep, despite any claims of server upgrades, it's almost certainly bound to crash. It did last year at least.
-
^ just wondering....i am sure the education department (which runs VCAA/VTAC?) is allocated millions of dollars....doesn't it only cost a few thousand to upgrade/buy a new server....whats stopping them ><
Is it just that tis not economically viable, in that its only used really on dec 14, and thats pretty much it?
-
Good thing checking www.vcaaresults.vic.edu.au isn't in the poll.
I think because the VCAA/VTAC offer many different methods, ie SMS, phone and internet it wouldn't really be viable to upgrade the servers.
-
I think I started checking the site at 6:45 and got through somewhere between 6:55 and 7:00. :)
-
Last year was epic. I was in a hotel in Indonesia (with a new laptop to check my results :P). According to my IRC chat logs, the exact release time was 8 minutes before 7am. I remember I logged in one place where it showed scaled scores only and another place showing both raw and scaled scores. Not sure if they were different sites. I nearly died when I saw my scaled scores. English got scaled to 24.80 and thought wouldn't get accepted into any course lol - But ofc when I flicked to the other page all was good

Last year I did two subjects and had to patiently wait for those. Registered for sms. Got up around 6. Had to get ready for a 7am workshift. Hoped the text would've been sent before 7. Mum got out of bed getting ready to take me and asking if I got my results yet, sadly I didn't at that point. Got to work. Started at 7. Nervous as hell and confused as 7 passed and I still hadn't received my text. Then I got a text, thought it was my results but it was just a mate who was as nervous as me. Finally at 7:15am results were sent out and I breathed a sigh of relief
-
^ OMG, as I was reading ur story my heart was POUNDING! It was like a drama/cliff hanger of a book/.movie!!
haha that's exactly what i was thinking!
im ridiculously stressed/ don't want to think about it. i cannot imagine what it's going to be like next year or for you year 12's now :|!
-
Considering that I'm never satisfied, I will probably not be happy with my ENTER and therefore will be trying to enjoy this week, where I do not feel compelled to beat myself up. Thus I won't be thinking about it.
All I want for Christmas...is an ENTER that'll make me feel rewarded.
-
Last year I was hyperventilating from about 6:30 to 6:50 and couldn't stop shaking. I've never experienced anything like that before, or ever since!
-
It's like an early christmas for us year 12's and if you've been bad you get a less than 30
-

All I want for Christmas... is an ENTER that will get me into my course. :D
EDIT: Or should I say "into a uni course" lol
-
gah!! I have never experienced anticipation like this before- i don't know if i can last a whole week!! Last year I waited until 7 20 and still the sms service hadn't come through so i logged onto the website out of frustration. I remember entering my student number and expecting another page to pop up or prompt me or something but suddenly i was just face to face with my result (i got a 49) and just started crying lol happiness and relief tears
-
weird thing is, Ive completely removed the enter from my mind. Im excited, but I just don't think about it anymore. Probably cos I've been playing too much COD lol

This count down is killing me. It's finally reached the "not long to go" phase.
I wish I could just hibernate till the 14th
-
At 6:45 or thenabouts, just keep F5-ing the browser window. Get in first to avoid the rush

relax guys if you can change your preferences and paid your 31 dollars to vtac you are all sweet

Is anyone planning to pull an all nighter?
I tried, and got to about 5.30am before I crashed. And woke up at 8.30am to several texts and missed calls from friends :P fail staying up, nearly had a heart attack when I realised results had been out for about 1.5 hours. I remember being upset because my ENTER wasn't good enough to make up for my shameful UMAT score, then when I told my parents they were very blase about it (even though it was still 99+), then I told my boyfriend at the time and he got pissed off at me because his ENTER was a lot lower than mine ::) sigh. Results day sucked :P
-
I just know that when my sis gets her results on her mobile, she'll come barging into my room, waking me up and telling me what she got :P
-
I'll keep a knife by the computer =[
-
Good luck to everyone :D!
I am also worried!
If I don't get 40+ in Bio, I don't get my enhancement studies arghh!
You still might! My sister did the maths enhancement and she only got 36 for Methods in yr 11. But you're probably going to get 40+ anyway. :)
-
The thing is I will be in Tasmania when the results come out, meaning that my parents will have the options to leave me there if my results are bad ...
lol omg

I've found the wait this year to be so much more bearable than last year, even though its so much more important. Not only have I found the waiting better, but I think I'm actually less stressed about results than I was last year because I know I haven't done as well as I would have liked and I came to terms with that a while ago. I think I'm currently at the stage where I just want to get VCE over and done with, put the whole horrible year behind me and start afresh at uni.

A bit off topic, but what is COD? (I know it is some sort of game, I think on PS3 or X-Box and you can play online...?) What does COD actually stand for?

I got my results last year by SMS at like 6.45. rather than 7. these past few weeks i've almost completely forgotten about my ENTER and my results and that...i'm coping better than last year ha :)
I've already got the A letter I needed to get into graphic design, so as long as i get at least a 50 ENTER and 20 for english, I'm in, so i have nothing really to stress about in regards to the upcoming results :)

It's often the case that a bunch of people end up on IRC (real time chat) the night before/the morning of their VCE results, and there's usually a bunch of us on at most times of the day everyday, so feel free to come on by clicking here
