Hey everyone,
I'm in Year 12 next year and I've just been wondering what I should be doing in terms of studying these holidays. I'd appreciate any advice from past students on their views. I'm doing biol, chem, methods and english. Also, is there anything specific I should be doing for these subjects?
Cheers :)

Didn't you have orientation with Yr 12 teachers to tell you what you have to do??
-
Nope. LOL. My school doesn't do that haha.

Well, we did get some set homework but it's nothing much. I'm wondering what else I should do in addition to that :)

Focus on what you enjoy, that way you will gain confidence.
For example, I personally did Methods and Spesh first because I liked Maths and then the momentum caused me to do physics/chem as well.
So yeah pick what you like and it will give you more confidence to continue your studies through to the end of the holidays.
Good luck :P

Lol for us the holiday homework was simply revising year 11 stuff.

I did nothing for Chem, Acc, Further or English during the Summer as I went overseas!
But I did heaps for Methods/Psych in year 11. If you've got time, and are motivated, probably go through the course for your most challenging subjects. I covered Methods/Psych in the summer, which helped me with confidence as you know what you're doing well before everyone else.

Read the English novels, and make sure there is nothing in your Bio, Chem, or Methods textbooks that makes you go WTF?

exactly these are good to learn in bio/chem, it shouldn't take too long either but it will give you an advantage over others:
bio- both types of respiration and photosynthesis processes. perhaps read over unit 3, theres quite a bit there, so just read the points in the study design.
chem- spectroscopy, chromatography and the very basics of organic chem

English: read through novels. If you think you are going to use study guides, use them now, not later (by later on you should not be trying to remember what a study guide said). Gain an idea of what the novels are about.
Bio: it's really helpful to read through unit 3. I would actually say don't read unit 4 yet. The sheer amount of content means that you should just keep unit 3 fresh in your mind. And make notes if you want.
Chem: if you have the motivation, read both units, making notes. There is less to cover than bio which is a very time consuming subject. Unit 4 is also easier than Unit 3 imo (I actually read through unit 4 first and understood it even without any unit 3 knowledge). As you are doing MUEP chem then this shouldn't be too bad for you.
Methods: depending on your motivation and skill at maths. At least try and get three chapters or so done to stay ahead of class but if you're enjoying yourself you can do as much as you like

I guess it paid off well! And you did just as well without any prep. Genius! haha.

Thanks TT! For me, that's definitely chem <3
I wish I was as uber motivated as you for math haha.
Thanks vexx and NE2000! I think that's what I'll do :)
Appreciate the advice guys!
