Hi all! I was just wondering what subjects would be fairly easy to pick up in year 12 when u haven't done the units 1 and 2 for that subject. I am in desperate need to pick up a subject where i won't be disadvantaged. Thanks!
-
uve already got 6?
-
Bio is a fairly common option; Chem and Physics 3+4 aren't as easy to pick up.
Then I guess there's like Classical Studies, International Studies etc.
And yeh, haven't you already got 6???
-
In most cases, you can do subjects without 1/2 no problems. There are some studies that need/are recommended that you take 1/2 prior to 3/4. These studies are:
Accounting
Dance
Music Styles
Musical Performance (Solo)
Biology
Chemistry
Physics
It's also recommended that if you wish to undertake Spesh, you should already have or are going to undertake Methods.

I'm not so sure about these two really needing 1/2 though...

recommended that u take 1/2 bio before 3/4 to grasp the basic concepts however quite a lot of people choose to take up 3/4 without 1/2 and still do reasonably well.

You could pick up Further! :)

You could pick up Further! :)
You could pick up Further, but I wouldn't recommend. I picked it up without 1/2 and its boring .....................

You could pick up Further! :)
probably one of the easiest :)

I did Methods without doing 1/2

Am I the only one who finds subjects that are relatively easy, fun (or at least somewhat satisfying)? Judging from my orientation week, I loved being so ahead with work that I was able to use class time for methods homework. :P
Since you are doing Methods, might as well do Further.

And got 48 raw! You must be uber-smart! :)
If you play an instrument, then Music Solo Perf may be worthwhile.
Otherwise Further or Classical Studies (I see you're doing Revs, this may suit) are good options.

Haha, the fact that its easy makes it boring. But most people find easy subjects to be fun. I like the challenge and thats what keeps me going :)

I did Bio without 1/2, but I'm an idiot who didn't do any preparation at all because I only figured out how competitive VCE actually is until after the mid-year. I don't think you'd be disadvantaged by not doing 1/2, but Bio requires a lot of work and study.
Psychology, I think, would be way easier to do without 1/2 since not much is carried over to 3/4.

No way...like I've said in other threads, at MGS we always have a whole class of Y11's doing 3/4 methods without doing 1/2, and this year we didn't have a Y11 attain a 50 whilst we have in most previous years. E.g. last year the Y11's produced a 49 and a 50, and this year only had two 48's as the highest.

thats what i initially thought! hehe but like im worried spesh might suck up all my time, time that i would rather spend.. i dunno doing english essay (*cough*msn). so yeah.. i dropped it for further, which im hoping i can do well in.. and HOPEFULLY get to enjoy it too.
-
IT i think would be pretty easy, they teach you it all over again.
Biology maybe.. i dont know you could do it but it might not be as easy as if you did 1/2. I'm learning my unit 3 course right now and some of it sort of builds upon your unit 1/2 work.
Have you considered history, perhaps? it doesnt look like its that hard to take up
-
Further is the easiest IMO. You can literally learn the course start to finish properly in as little as 2 weeks. And if you do methods 1/2, there is no need for general (further) 1/2.
...and yeah, i have to agree, kyzoo is pr0.

Yess doing further maths would be good, and psychology has not much in 1/2 that relates back to 3/4! I did psych 1/2 in year 10, and now doing 3/4 this year :/ when im in year 12 (due to not fitting it in last year XD)
-
^ yeah psychology 3/4 has like nothing to do with 1/2.
i did unit 2 at the same time as unit 4 haha but didn't do unit 1, but unit 2 was so pointless .__.
except the nervous system stuff would have helped for unit 3 but meh..
i reckon geography is another one to pick up easily, also english language doesn't really require unit 1/2 if your thinking of an english subject (i haven't done 1/2 for it and picking it up this year).
there's quite a few!
-
tl;dr
Legal Studies is very easy to pick up without 1/2
-
From my experience:
- biology
- business management
- international studies
- music (solo, group or styles)
- English :P
From friends experiences:
- psychology
- further maths
- legal studies
-
I wouldnt say biology as much because I didnt do 1/2 and picked 3/4 (mistake). There wasn't much from 1/2 but there were little aspects that they tested you in exams. For example the female meiosis question in unit 4 exam ;)
