what are the main differences as apposed to vce?
And how are there scores calculated?
I know this probably is in the wrong thread/site :p

My best friend did IB... she hinted strongly that Theory of Knowledge should die.

IB courses are generally a lot harder as well. Also, you can actual fail (if you get below 28/45).

Mmm.. my friend failed IB by 1 point.. even though her mark equated to an enter of around 75.
She redid biology just last year, so that she could be awarded the IB... she passed by 1 point this time.

There probably is no score for it, just something you have to do to pass.

The IB is calculated out of a score of 45. You do six subjects where you must do at least three of those subjects classed as 'High Level (HL)' and the remaining 'Standard Level (SL)'. HL classes can sometimes be classed as the equivalent to some first year uni classes, meaning you can do the second year of it at uni. CAS, (Creation, Action, Service) is a compulsory community service program which is vital to complete in order to pass the IB. Without doing the required 150 hours (50 hours to each of the three parts), you will not receive your diploma, even if you have aced all of your subjects. Your CAS is also three points towards the total of 45, as 6x7=42 and the remaining three are from completing CAS.
In the IB you cannot play to your strengths. You do one subject from each area, so one 1st language, one maths, one 2nd language, one humanities, one science and one extra subject from either humanities or science. This in turn makes it harder to achieve a higher ENTER score.
The IB is a diploma that lasts a lifetime, unlike the VCE where a one's ENTER is credited for a maximum of two years. By completing the IB, you can also apply to any university in the world, however whenever applying for college's in America, the SAT is still compulsory to sit.

Nah, the last 3 points are from participation etc. in Theory of Knowledge classes, and the mark for your Extended Essay (basically a massive project that you do over the holidays before the start of year 12). Also your 6th subject can be something other than humanities/science, like music/theatre studies/art (which doesn't really come under humanities).
I did the IB middle years program (year 7 - year 10) :) And my older sister did IB all the way to the end. Let's just say that she studied a lot more and worked a lot harder than I did in years 11 & 12...

I have a friend who does IB and her English is equivalent to our Literature, maths as our spesh etc. So it is much harder :S

They have to read 900 pages novels >.<
