BM is not that hard as there is not much room for interpretation regarding content. I would simply download the study design off VCAA and ensure I can tick off and have a good understanding of all the key knowledge areas, as these areas are what your teacher can assess you on in your sac.

For Unit 3 Area of Study 1 the key knowledge areas are, (from page 21/22 of the study design)

Quote
LSO's in Context: Key Knowledge areas
• the context which contributes to the unique nature of large-scale organisations;
• characteristics of large-scale organisations;
• variations in types of large-scale organisations, their objectives and related business strategies;
• typical management functions in large-scale organisations, including operations, finance, human
resources, marketing, and research and development;
• contributions, both positive and negative, of large-scale organisations to the economy;
• internal and external (operating and macro) environments of large-scale organisations;
• performance indicators used to evaluate the performance of large-scale organisations, including the
percentage of market share, net profit figures, the rate of productivity growth, the number of sales,
results of a staff and/or customer satisfaction survey, the level of staff turnover, level of wastage,
number of customer complaints and number of workplace accidents;
• identification and characteristics of stakeholders of large-scale organisations, including their
interests, possible conflicts and related ethical and socially responsible considerations.

I would go through and make brief notes on the dot points in preperation for your upcoming SAC.

This is what I'd be doing in preperation for all SAC's throughout the year. Subject study designs are found on the VCAA website.

2c, MBA.

Make sure you know the content, from the study design and notes. Also take into account any hints your teacher has given you, intentionally or not. Also know what the questions are like, how they are stated, and how you are meant to respond. Make sure you address all parts of the questions, make special note of key words such as define, give an example, distinguish, explain, etc. And make sure you do define or give an example if required!

EDIT:
Business is not a very difficult subject, the material is quite basic(I thought). Though the part where I fell short was in the structure and content of my responses. Jam lots of justification in, and just keep writing, relating everything back to the case study. I've been told the general rule is write twice as much as you think you should. If your teacher has already given specific advice for answering questions, follow that rather than mine.  :)

Anyway, good luck! Full marks, going for 50, yeah? :P :P

BTW the practise SACS and questions in Checkpoints are good for extra work if needed.

Did you do it? What SS did you get? If not, you shouldn't say that.

You don't need full marks in every SAC to get a 50..

You don't need full marks in any SAC to get 50, merely the highest score in your school.

At my school the two were equally as difficult! Top couple of students basically had full marks.

Okay, at my school top rank was 96% for Unit 3(not me :() and also 96% Unit 4(this was me ;D and two others, equating to 60% of the cohort :buck2:).

lol. depending from school, i know i did not achieve full marks and some students who did (mfkers).

i ended up getting a higher SS then those with higher marks. my grades were like this . Unit 3 B+[88/100],  Unit 4A+ [97/100] , Exam A+ .
only one or two students bet me. if only i had those top marks. 43+ == . only if i tried in unit 3, sac one. that sac cost me 12 marks or so T_T. ..

Yep, my first SAC stuffed me up too, probably because I didn't realise how much writing you actually had to do. I lost about 6 marks in SAC 1, only lost another 4 over the rest of the entire course.

The exam is key though, I got 43 SS with an exam mark of 53.5/60, with an A for Unit 3 (90/100) and A+ for Unit 4 (100/100).

There was a bloke in my class last year who only lost 1 mark through out the entire course, he got a B+ on his exam and ended up with a study score of 34/35. Shows the importance of the end of year exam hey!

I'd say no, though it depends upon the strength of your school. I had A+ for SAC's(internal mark) and  only 1 mark off A+ in the exam and received 39 raw. So a lower exam score will really screw you over. 40+ generally requires straight A+'s.

Yeah, I got an A on my first SAC and I'm pretty confident i got an A+ on the SAC we did yesterday; my brother got sort of fluctuating scores of either A or A+ on all his SACs, and got a study score of 41. I assume he did relatively well on the exam.
we can all hope, to get a good score

How does the class or cohort ranking work?

I got 98% on the second SAC which was top of the class. Does the fact I was on top benefit me in any way?
my understanding is that the higher rank you are overall (for the whole year), the more it will benefit you, but only one SAC wouldn't really make a difference apart from you rank average against everyone.

If I was to get say an average of A on my SACs for the year, and a B+ to an A on the exam, could I get over 40?

No, definitely not. You pretty much have to get an A+ on the exam if you want over a 40. The A's for coursework would need to be high A's, and the exam I would say a mid to high A+ to get above a 40.

As long as you get the top or close to top ranking in the exam, Being at the top of the cohort pretty much excludes you from the "scaling" and moderation of your marks.  You want to have many students getting a high SAC and exam mark, because remember a high SAC mark means pretty much squat if you can't back this up in the exam.

Moderation effects mid range students (C-B) more so VCAA can put together that nice looking bell curve.

Disagree, had two friends get 41 in bus man last year with an A on the end of year exam. Both had A+ sacs though.

My response was to the poster who says he has A's for sacs. If he wants to get above a 40 he will definitely have to get an A+ on the exam. Not talking about your friends who got A+ for sacs, guessing their cohort must have been pretty strong too.

Yes, Braybrook College has an amazingly good cohort strength.

sarcasm. heh

definitely no. if ur in a average to weak cohort. you'll need A+'s . i got [unit 3 sacs,first sac stuffed me up lost 12 marks, 88/100]B+ , [unit 4 sacs, 98/100]A+ , A+

depending on your cohort. i got a A+ on my end of year exam, meaning i dropped a max of 5 marks and didnt achieve 40.

if you maintain at the top of your cohort, that means ur sac marks should equal to 3 A(because of ur exam grade). if you can get a A+ for your end of year exam, a 40 is definitely achievable.

edit; my cohort was relatively weak, lots of slackers, i had a few mates who were guns.. but that was pretty much it . we had approximately 80.  if u were a melb high kid, i believe a 40+ is achievable if u got A's for sacs.

A+ range for the exam last year was 50.5/60 and is generally about that.

But as for the question, I'd say you have a good chance at 40 if you had a high A and your cohort is decent. I got 49.5/60 for the exam, 91 and 96 for raw SAC marks and got 39, so if you get a bit higher you should be in contention for 40+.

Ahaha, not exactly... I had a cohort of 5/ For unit 3 I was second, and for unit 4 I was equal first, along with two others... So 60% of the cohort was ranked first =\ Second highest SS was 37 raw, I don't know after that.
