Well, i was reading the how much sleep you get thread and i realised, some people take a while to get to school.
So, i was interested how long everyone else takes to get to school/uni, for me personally its about 30 minutes, one way. (bus)
I guess you can factor in how long you take to get ready in the morning for how early you wake up but unless you spend heaps of time or go to school naked (damn judge..) i dont think it would vary that much. I think travel is the big one that determines the time.
Maybe, also say the way you travel. (eg. bus, car, private jet)
-
Over an hour for uni, as well as when I went to school.
-
If i end up going to monash its going to take me 2 hours one way on public transport -_-.
Ah, the joy of living in the west.
-
Was 20 minutes to school, half an hour to work (bus and car resp.)

That's what it would have been for me, another reason to to take the year off. Get some cash together to board there
-
About half an hour, more or less depending on the traffic at the time.
-
To Melbourne Uni during peak hour:
1. Bus (30-35 minutes)
2. Tram (10 minutes)
Or I've done it in 30 minutes before with an aggressive bus driver, which was pretty awesome. All in all, for the next few years, I'm going to be very best friends with bus lanes. :)
Other than that, it does suck living in a LGA with no trains or trams. :(
-
Haha Westies ftw!
Yeah i get up around 7:30 takes me one hour of walking around the house with my eyes closed/showering/eating/getting ready
then 10 minutes to get to school (:
Hopefully I can get into Melb uni otherwise its two hours for Monash, we can go there together LOL (:
-
20 minutes, Get on the freeway which is ~2 minutes from my place, get off the freeway which is about ~5 minutes from monash haha. Monash freeway FTW!
-
Car - 2 to 4 minutes
I normally walk home which takes 20-25 minutes because I can't wake up early enough in the morning.
-
2 to 4 minutes O_O do you like live next door?
-
For me it's about an hour to get into uni.

Rofl, that's another reason why I wanna go to Melb Uni - cos its so much closer than Monash :)
-
0 minutes

That's by car! But yeah my parents chose my school because it was so close (it's also right behind my primary school so I've always had the luxury of sleeping in).
Sort of irrelevant; they recently found a dead body really close to my school, it's on a street which I've walked past for years.
-
My house to Monash... hmmm....
Option One: 2 hours by public transport
or
Option Two: 1~2 hours by car (oh, the joys of peak-hour traffic).
I choose you, pikachu!

Haha epic car, about the same times for me as well.
Do you live in the west also?
I reckon for me the car would get expensive quick.
-
That pikachu car is bad ass. :o
Seems like there's a lot of westies here? Usually takes me half an hour to get ready, then about 20 minutes by car to get to school.
-
I always get up around 1.5-2 hours early, to cram work, get ready and maybe fit some violin practice in :D
Then it can take anywhere between 5 and 20 minutes to get to school
-
1 hour to uni !
-
1.15 hours by car
Around 1:30 hours by public transport

Yeah, I'm west-sider as well.
My car's actually very fuel efficient... costs me about $40 a week, and I do a fairly generous amount of driving.
-
School about 10-15 minutes on the bus, 5 minutes by car, but with the bus, the stop is outside my house and drops me off outside the school, so their really isn't any complaints.
With Uni next year, if I get into the uni I hope to go to - about 30 minutes on bus and tram and about 10 driving so pretty good as well.
-
yay so many westies on VN
never realised :)
yeah, it normaly takes me 1.5 hrs to get to monash using public transport, little bit more in peak

Loll yeah same parents want to live near school. Hahah i used to live like behind my primary school too.
But now:
By car: ~5mins
Walk: 15-20min
Of course it depends on traffic and how fast you walk as well.
-
lol my parents moved within like 50m of a secondary school then as soon as i got to about year 8 there the school decided to become a prep~9 school :P
-
Great to see a lot of fellow west siders on VN :)
Takes me about 40 mins to get to uni (UoM), consisting of a 5 min drive, 20 min train and 5-10 min bus, plus waiting times.
-
It was meant to take me 15mins - but because the shitty freeways can't handle the traffic - it took me 35 mins :(
-
wow so many westsiders, maybe us westsiders shud have a meet at highpoint sometimes xD
-
1+ hours, and that's by car!

Takes me about 10 mins by tram to get to Uni, about 1-2 mins walk to tram depending on how much coffee I've had.
-
High school: 15 minutes
Uni: probably 1.5 hours (drive, park, walk a bit, train, tram) or drive all the way 45 minutes non-peak - 1.5 hours in peak effing stop-start traffic
Lectures from home in PJs: 0
-
<-- Another west sider livin' near stab albans. An hour by bus, catch 2 buses. 2 hours each day in commute.
When are they gonna invent jetpacks so we can just fly to and from school/uni.
-
Lectures from home in PJs: 0
FTW
Otherwise 2 hours in off peak, 1.5 hours in peak (trains/trams run more often etc)
