As the title suggests, I don't really like the course I'm in at the moment, and it's too late to change now, do I have to wait til next semester or next year to change it? I really don't think teaching is for me >.< and the math is just killing me, it's so boring :( Hmm... So yeah what do you guys and girls suggest I do? :(
-
i think u have to wait til the end of the year to change
-
Yeah, true :(
-
I'm sorry to hear that odette :(
whats the census date for your uni? I thought that you could withdraw from your course before then with no penalties - ie. no fail mark on your record. not sure about the fees though.
what alternatives are you looking at? I think for most courses yes you'd have to wait til next year. but if you really can't stand the thought of doing this course for the rest of this year, you can always take a gap year and start again next yr in the course you want ... get a job and save up some money / gain some valuable work experience to put on your resume this year.
good luck, it's not the end of the world :)
EDIT: "in most cases the census dates are 31 March" - from some ACU thing (you go to ACU right? I forget :-[)

Not sure about the census date, the course coordinator said that the subject selection date was the 29th of Feb.
I don't really know if I should pull out of the course and apply next year though... my parents wouldnt be too happy about that. I'm thinking of doing more of a business degree, it just seems so interesting. I just don't know what to do >.< the course coordinator doesn't seem to know what she's doing lol

Ok well I made an appointment to see the first year students coordinator, and we'll discuss my options, I may be able to get in mid-year ^_^
-
Census date is set by the government - 30th of March.
I'm not sure about other unis, but I think mid-year entry tends to be full fee only (but see that co-ordinator to check your options).
If you *really* don't like the course, and don't have the option of waiting until mid-year (ie, you have to wait until next year), don't take another semester unless you can load it up with units that can get credit in the new course. Otherwise, you're just wasting your money.
-
Yeah that's true. :)
-
If you're doing arts, surely you could opt out of maths next semester and do more businessy subjects. Economics, for instance, is often offered in an arts degree.
-
Ahh my major is maths ... its bachelor of arts(mathematics)
Oh btw I asked about the csp and full fee place... and she said it would be csp, we just need to see whether or not i can get in mid-year, as it would depend on how many csp students there are, and how many places are left.

My friend dropped the Law part of her Commerce/Law degree in the middle of the year, but I'm not sure whether you can wholly transfer from one course to a totally different course in the mid-year.
-
thats betty isnt it lol
-
yeah odette, try out something like economics, management, accounting or finance
-
My current course is quite restricted so I don't have much choice... It's either 2 units of math or 1 math unit and a history/literature unit (and there's no way i'd do that) along with a unit of information systems which I really like. The coordinator said I could change my course if there was a place for me mid-year :) ... Hopefully that way i can move to a bachelor of business
