Title: Accounting or Marketing Major?

Ok so I'll be switching to a Bachelor of Business and I have a choice of majoring in either Accounting or Marketing (or other areas of business) , I don't know which one to choose.. any suggestions/advice? Thanks

Marketing for you Odette. I see you having a more sustained interest in it rather than accounting. Personally for you I think you would bore with Acc and with Marketing it would allow you to be imaginative, creative and to feel part of something that can make a difference. ( Everything makes a difference LOL)
Anyways just what I think. I was right once before remember heheh

Hehe yeah Costa, but I dunno everyone I know said I'd be suited to accounting >.< Oh well I have a over a year to decide what I want to major in anyway. :)

Well yeh I guess You don't have to make a decision straight away.
Also take into consideration the future job prospects of both professions.

Yeah that's what I need to look at, I mean there seems to be more job opportunities with accounting....

check out the requirements for CPA/CA first.

That's odd it's listed in NSW >.< Most of the time we do the same course as the nsw campus anyway so i dunno why :( its not listed in victoria

Mmm, ask your university and inquire about the accounting course. If isn't available for accreditation, there's isn't really a point for doing it. You might as well do Marketing or transfer to an accredited uni.

Just a thing that my careers adviser said... people who major in marketing or management or both are less employable than people who major in things like accounting and economics because you develop more transferable skills (i think that was the reason she gave >.<)

I'm doing a double major in Marketing and Human Resources at Swinburne. Why don't you major in both?
I think at ACU you have to do the business core subjects of all majors anyway so try them all and see what you like!

Yeah we have a year to decide on what to major in, in our first year we're introduced to a few business fields, however we only have one major.

At uni the student-run clubs said that students doing accounting majors should start enjoying their social lives because they won't have many opportunity to do so in the future.
