Chemistry's like a bad drug, if you take too much you will enter a dilapidated state, and then you will die.

The only antidote is maths, or, to a lesser extent, physics.

LOL exactly:

Only just noticed this comment >.<
I definitely am not, in fact, the full extent of the maths work I do is on VN, I (almost) never do my methods homework, and never touch GMA at all!
In fact, if anything, my energy is focused on physics and chem now - NQE in Aug :)

It's ages away!

Seriously, 2 people from my school made the team, and we did next to nothing.

I'm doing the Biology NQE this year, don't think I can handle Chem/Physics at this stage... we haven't even done the year 10 units for chem and physics yet. And, of course, I'm doing all the maths stuff too, hopefully I can finally improve enough for dec camp this year because with all my subjects next year, I reckon this will be my last olympiad year. :(

Thanks lol, I'm always like one question off. Trivial solutions screwed 2 unnecessary marks off me this year too, though AMT people said I improved from last year :)

Are you doing all three NQEs? There are people who get into the camps that haven't even done 1/2 chemistry, I don't know how they do it... at this stage, I can't even do a single question on the chem/physics papers, how pathetic. :D Biology's pretty decent though, since I've done most of unit 1.

Thanks, I'm not that pro... I haven't done maths since the 10th of Feb this year (AMO day 2). Trying to do some trig geometry now because my trigonometry failed me back then.

Good luck :) Is Physics related to Specialist maths in any way, just out of interest? Ahhhh there's too many VCE subjects to choose from, I have to reduce my 9 (incl UMEP) to at least 7-8. Should I do Physics, Economics or nothing... or both? Just kidding :)

You are pro, my comp maths skills are extremely erratic :)

Yes, physics is quite related to spesh, so it may be worth doing it
However, with that many subjects, it seems to be a bit overdoing it :P

Not really, it's just a matter of reading books and doing papers on the four main areas of olympiad, with that, anyone can be good.
Yeah, I might do it but economics also sounds good because it is a part of actuarial studies.
I am so screwed with my subject choices.......... I don't think doing 9 subjects is the most sensible choice.
What would you recommend out of physics and economics? Or I can just read the economics textbook when I have free time after VCE and not do the subject. I promised my science teacher last year that I would do physics nooooooooo :(

Almost finished unit 3 Accounting, just one chapter left and I've already learnt it

Methods we went out of order so I haven't a clue where were actually up to

And I'm pretty sure we have finished unit 3 Specialist. I don't know exactly what that includes so I'm not 100% sure, but all we've got left to do is half of integration, then kinematics and vector calculus

Lol I've done nothing basically.
- 2 biology chapters (half of AOS 2 unit 1)
- Bio and chem glossary
- read english text
- Like three pages of trig identities
- several pages of inequalities.
- 40 pages of my 2 chinese books altogether
- 3 AMC papers

What a waste of a holiday.

-Written one essay for Literature

-Done one chapter of Spesh
-Done one topic of Japanese General Conversation...(fail...)
-...LEARNT THE BIT OF RACH 2 WHICH I NEED TO LEARN
-...ALMOST LEARNT ALL MY LINES

Woot  just went through 2 practice exams for methods.

Shame I can't do the same for Phys or Chem which I have exams for in about 2 months :(.

Alright I'll do chem till 4, then phys till 6, then sleep for 5 hours.

And I have two days after that to fix my sleeping pattern.

Title: Re: STUDY UPDATE:
Post by: Blakhitman on April 09, 2010, 03:56:20 am
I'm aware I most likely missed out on shit load of stuff that I'll probably realise once we go through it in class, but like I said I haven't even finished the course, and noway am I good enough at the stuff I have gone through.

But by finish course, I'd say you should know the theory And have done a few questions from each topic, pretty much do the bare minimum to pass, not exactly get full marks in exams and shit :P

and stuff this I'm going to sleep.
Title: Re: STUDY UPDATE:

Hey, nice! :D
Did you score yourself?

But by finish course, I'd say you should know the theory And have done a few questions from each topic, pretty much do the bare minimum to pass, not exactly get full marks in exams and shit :P

To finish the course, I reckon you need to know all of the theory and be able to apply it to most/all types of questions from the textbook :)

But good job, you used your holidays well :)
I've gotten nothing done at all...
Title: Re: STUDY UPDATE:
Post by: Aqualim on April 09, 2010, 01:51:11 pm
Can't say I've done a lot, but I tried to get as much as I could done, considering I work 10 hours each weekend;
English - 5 Look Both Ways Essays, improved a little but not to a standard I wanted - will write another one today
Methods - 2 practice SAC's, still need to get ahead for chapter 5 out of maths quest
Accounting - Finished chapter 9, was hoping to finish Unit 3, probably don't have the time at the moment
Business - did the homework :P don't really need to get ahead, since we get given top quality notes from the teacher anyway
P.E - finishing holiday homework now, (should have completed ages ago)

So much for 20 english essays, really time consuming, not to mention the constant distractions on the internet :/

My To do before school starts:

Chem H/W and revise Organic chem from last year plus revise all of the shit we did in term 1.
Physics H/W and revise all of term 1 plus go over some electricity stuff (but physics is easy so not top priority :P).
English, write up 2 oral speeches for my SAC which is next week.
Further, nothing, although I should prepare for SAC.
Methods, Go over term 1 for upcoming SAC.

Im trying to rediscover the motivation that I had up until just last week. If it doesnt come back when I return to school I dont know what ill do.
I realised over this holidays that success academically is not nearly as important as success in other areas.
Its funny cause a 50 in whatever subject isnt the holy grail for me anymore. I dont admire those of you who dedicate your lives to VCE anymore. I dont care about getting my top preference. I'd rather do something with what ive got rather than spend 5 more years learning from a textbook to be something im not. The world doesnt need another pen-pusher, earning triple figures, thinking theyve 'made it'.

True, but I still like the idea of having 'Dr.' in front of my name on the mail

You say that now because you can't see any benefits from your study (weeks of studying shit that is pointless to you) but when they get 99.XX and you get 80 you'll begin admiring again ;)

Nah jokes bro, keep it up

Not really. The ENTER score is a key to a door I might not want to go through. What do I care if some FOB takes my spot at Monash Uni? 5 years of toil to be yet another over-paid, under-appreciated piece of shit with LLB after his name.

haha-

why don't you put your top preferences something you want to do so you can say that it is something you want (pssssttt the point of going to uni is doing something you want to do)

Key word is might, if you are still not sure of what you want to do then why not just go for what you want, take a gap year and rethink your choices? If you really don't want to be a lawyer then don't put it as no. 1? There are a lot of degrees out there... pick something you like I guess? I'm sure that has been explained to you before :P

I purposely put might in there. Haha. I hoped you wouldnt notice it.

If I get my motivation back I probably will want to go to uni. If I dont though ill need some philosophical reasoning behind my 'decision' to be a lazy fuck-up.

I dont think radiographers are generally called doctor...Radiologists are (but you need to be a medical doctor in the first place so its kind of a circle..

the.watchman, YOU DO NOT NEED YEAR 12 PHYSICS FOR THE PHYSICS NQE. Take it from me, OK? If you want to do something, learn that the centripetal force = mv^2/r. That was the only Unit 3 equation that came up last year. And it was only in one part.

Gosh, I've done nothing VCE related these holidays. On the other hand, I've done 10 5 hour exams (5 theory, 5 experimental)...
