Why is suddenly so many people saying English won't be counted in top 4 in 2011 onwards? I know this have been around recently but yea...
-
not going to happen it would mean that all past students would be disadvantaged, eg me.lol
-
Haha, again?
I don't think any of these English rumours is true, they never are :)
-
People say this every year. Though I don't know why specifically now there is a resurgence in the myth.
-
they say this every year and every year a whole bunch of ppl believe in it, the only time when this is probable is when they start introducin the new national curriculum, but even then its still doubtful.
-
this won't happen..
-
im going to put a quote in here from one book ive read
Wizard's first rule
"People are stupid; given proper motivation, almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People’s heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true. People are stupid; they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so are all the easier to fool."

Not going to happen but it would be SO good if it did ;)
-
bad idea, people should l2english.
-
I like English.
I don't like the assessment for VCE English though. It's too formulaic but yet too subjective.
-
Not going to happen.
I think english should be part of the top 4 but thats just me.
-
it could happen one year, but i doubt it ever will.
past students won't be at a disadvantage, because they did it in a year where english was in the top four for the whole year level, so it was a level playing field.
that having been said, ilovemathsmeth wouldn't be happy and nor would I! :P
-
Didn't they say that about this year too?
Yeah not gonna happen, its the anti-fob mechanism.

happens every year...
-
enwiabe should really post something (Important Topic?) that is at the top of all boards sticky topics saying that it ain't gonna happen and that any attempt at another topic is pointless.
-
Shouldn't ever happen. Even though I myself will probably be disadvantaged by this, we already get off quite easily compared to other countries who MUST take Maths, Science and be in core streams. We live in Australia, we should have some kind of qualification in the language.

I'd agree that it should be compulsory to choose it, however it should not be compulsory to have it in the top 4.

Yeah, now that there is much humour in iffets12345's post :P Plus, there was another thread about english top 4. So I am quite justified, thank you :P

Then you could do no work at all in it...
-
haha... this myth is like soooo old.... can sum1 call mythbusters and put a busted sign on it
-
I heard 2012 is the year
-
just want to point out,
the day this happens, all the AUSTRALIAN science/maths kids who wanted this to happen will regret it when they get their butt kicked by
The Indians, The Chinese, The Japanese, The Singaporeans and The Russians from overseas.

Lol shush you. I didn't get it at first and thought saying "I myself" was gramatically incorrect but then I got it. ==

Incorrect - long term memory is permanent so if someone knew it after 30 seconds they'll know it after 100 years (providing it has been semantically encoded and stored etc [ subject to change, generalisation ] )
FYI I also remember you smashing Eng -.-
-
The memory can still be characterized as good
-
haha I wish I had good memory.
