Title: Geometry issues
Post by: Martoman on April 22, 2010, 06:17:03 pm
There is some simple observations I'm not making here.

Image is here: http://img227.imageshack.us/i/capture7.png/

Question: In triangle PQT, PQ = 10, QT = 5, angle PQT = 60
PW,PY,TQ are tangents to the circle with centre S at W,Y and V respectively.
The radius of the circle is?

What I did was form a square TYVS... but past that, nothing. PT can be worked out via pythag to be however.

construct SQ and ST

Then you can use trigonometry to express TV and VQ in terms of r.
