Post by: sisqo1111 on March 10, 2008, 02:19:40 pm
hi all,
ive got a ti 83plus calculator which i use for methods, however ive also got a casio cfx-9850gb plus.
Which one of these are better? or are they very similar? i just find the casio quite hard to use.

Texas Instruments FTW! The TI-89 and TI-Nspire kicks Casio's calcs ANYDAY. :P

Love Ti 89. 3rd year of using it and is rediculously easy to understand (ok that easy but pretty straight forward).

I was thinking of buying a TI-89 for spech, but the problem is I'm only gonna use it for a year, so I don't know whether it would be worth it.

hmm.. there like $199 new at most places (well $165 for me :P), but... maybe you could get a cheaper one off eBay

i've read somewhere that you could use a laptop (for CAS - computer algebra system)??

and the 89 wont be useless, you'll find it very handy in uni...

But I have no intention of taking maths beyond high school...

Trust me, it can be extremely useful for multiple choice for Spesh in Exam 2. It does integrals, derivatives some tedious algebra in a flash :) This saves you time to do the more important analysis questions :)

I haven't touched a calculator in university except scientific calculators for non-maths subjects.
